We got a surprise in our e-mail today. Someone had sent us a little write-up they did about a Skype session with Bridget. They wrote it up especially for us, so here it is:

I also had a Skype session with Bridget but I hadn’t posted about it because…well…I have a terrible memory, and I don’t think it would be fair to her to recite word-for-word what we talked about. I’d inevitably get it wrong. Plus, I have a thing about respecting someone’s privacy; we didn’t talk about anything personal but still, it was a personal conversation.

That being said however, I don’t think it would be crossing the line to give a short recap. She was definitely very appreciative of and humbled by the support that CW has gotten. We talked a lot about CW and about financing Broadway shows in general. It’s something I knew very little about and it was an education having someone so close to it explain it to me. We talked about The Lovely Bones, NINE, Daniel Day-Lewis, The Last of the Mohicans, Italy and Paris, and Is He Dead? Legend of the Seeker did come up, of course, and the fact that Kahlan will be missed. But I did emphasize how much I’m looking forward to seeing whatever she does next.

And finally, I’m sure you’ve all read the reports by the other Skypers about how much fun it was. It was all that and more, tons more. It was an absolute treat; now, even a week later, I still have this goofy grin on my face that everyone keeps asking me about. If she ever volunteers her time again, I would highly recommend it (the line will be forming right behind me!)

Her Blue Eyes would like to send a big thank you to Pat for sending this along to us!

THIS JUST IN: THE CREATOR OF CAMP WANATACHI WANTS YOUR LESBIAN CAMP STORIES
Over the past few months, a considerable buzz has surrounded the musical Camp Wanatachi, a quirky story about an all-girls Christian summer camp in which two of the campers fall in love.

When it debuted at New York’s Fringe Festival last year, Time Out New York called it “refreshing and uplifting and gave it four stars. New York Magazine dubbed it a hilariously subversive piece of theater.” Even we had something to say about it.

Produced by Bridget Regan of Legend of the Seeker and Ian Pai, co-founder of Blue Man Group and musical director of Fischerspooner, the zany musical is set to forward-sounding electro tracks with whimsical yet hormone-driven lyrics that evoke the frenetic and confusing but often exhilarating time called adolescence. It features beats by hip-hop producer Machinedrum and was arranged by up and coming composer Conrad Winslow.

The rest of the article/interview can be found at the following link, however, there is adult content, so view at your own discretion. Also, they are looking for stories about lesbian experiences at summer camp, whether as a camper or a counselor. So, well, if you’ve got any stories that you want to share, the details are after the interview. Here it is: http://www.afterellen.com/blwe/06-18-10?page=0,1

Bridget Regan has taken a hands-on approach to her involvement in the Camp Wanatachi project. At the Camp Wanatachi Benefit Concert on June 3rd, Bridget was seen before the show lugging equipment bins in a stunning red dress, dealing with the box office and greeting people at the doors to the event. She was classy and gracious and was busting her butt to make sure everything went without a hitch, as any good producer should. I got a chance to speak with her after the concert and asked her what her motivation was for becoming involved in Camp Wanatachi. She responded by saying that she has always had a passion for musical theater since she was young. When a friend had her listen to a song written by Natalie Weiss, creator of Camp Wanatachi and a friend of Bridget’s from their time at acting school, she was immediately blown away by the distinctive sound and felt inspired to lend her support to the project. She has done this by becoming a co-producer, adding her name to the project to increase interest and dedicating a tremendous amount of time and effort to its success since returning to the U.S. after wrapping up her role on Legend of the Seeker in New Zealand.

Camp Wanatachi is a unique production that was written and composed by the talented Natalie Weiss. She has taken a story from the pages of her own life and turned it into a soulful expression of teenage angst and sexual confusion. Self described as “experimental theater”, with its adventurous and sometimes lighthearted score, unprecedented use of graphic design and sound, and both sincere and irreverent views of Christian rhetoric, Camp Wanatachi is trying to take a major step towards a run as an off-Broadway production. As with all projects of this sort, it needs love, nurturing and most of all, financing. From the overwhelmingly positive response the cast received at the end of the concert, it is worth the effort to help make this show blossom into the thought provoking force it can one day become. If you wish to support the show and Bridget’s efforts go to http://www.kickstarter.com/projects/1757805840/camp-wanatachi-a-new-musical?pos=1 and consider donating to the cause.

As stated previously, Bridget Regan made herself available to her fans and other guests after the event was over and I had the opportunity to speak with her. I was so impressed and put at ease with her charming, laid back manner. It felt like I was chatting with a friend I hadn’t seen in years, as opposed to a beautiful actress from a popular TV series. Our conversation ranged across all sorts of topics, about her current and upcoming projects and her experiences in show business up to this point. However, the one thing that she could tell me without reservation is that she has no idea about the current status of Legend of the Seeker. I would like to extend my thanks to Bridget for her time at this event. After my brief interaction with her I came to three conclusions: she’s the kind of person who is a great friend to those around her, she is genuinely kind, sincere and straightforward, and she is a hell of a lot of fun to be around.

Some of the folks involved are even forgoing payment for their services in order to put this production on but they need more funds. Their stated goal is $5,000 but I’m sure they would be ecstatic with more. And there are some great incentives to pledge. At the $100 level, you get a CD signed by the cast and production team, including our Bridget. For $500, you get a 30 minute Skype session with Bridget! And for $5,000, Bridget and the rest of the production team will take you out for drinks in New York City! Head on over to the pledge site, check it out, see what they are offering. Minimum pledge, $1.

They will be putting on two shows, on June 3rd and 4th, and it is possible that Bridget might be there. We don’t know for certain but she’s been pretty involved, so there’s a shot. If anyone goes, please send us a write up to put on the site! Thanks!

The pledge site can be found here, with information pertaining to the concerts and the pledging incentives: http://www.kickstarter.com/projects/1757805840/camp-wanatachi-a-new-musical
