As some of you all know, I’ve been threatening to retheme the site for a few months. I’ve been holding off because shortly after I had that brilliant idea Wordpress announced that they were working on Wordpress 3.0 and it would be released sometime around… well now. If you’ve never had the fun of internet programming, a major new version of a program usually screws up the old theme when you upgrade. As 3.0 promised to have several things that I wanted functionality wise I’ve been putting off the retheme until the new version came out. That brings us to now. 3.0 is out today and over the next week or so I’m going to be putting together our new theme and doing the upgrade and I’m looking for input from you all. Is there something you’d like the site to do that it doesn’t do currently? Maybe some spiffy thing that you saw on another site and thought, man I wish HBE did that! Let me know in the comments and I’ll see what I can do.

Recently, we have had quite a few very explicit discussions come up in the comments. While calling Bridget or Tabrett or Craig or whoever sets your heart aflutter “sexy” is not out of line, please keep it within the boundaries of what you’d be willing to let a child read. We have no control over who sees this site and LotS is a Disney show. Sure, it pushes some boundaries but there are still children out there watching and they may seek this site out. We don’t want it to be completely vanilla, as I said, just mentioning how stunning they are is not excessive. But explicit details and such are not necessary and the comments will be unapproved if they are deemed as going too far. We don’t want to stifle reasonable discussion but some propriety should be maintained. And Bridget reads the site as well and we’d like the place to be respectful for her sake. Thank you.

We had a situation today where a couple of e-mail addresses were posted in the comments section. Please, do not post your e-mail address or that of anyone who works on the site. I know we have the bit where it says, “Chris [at] herblueeyes.com” but that is designed so that spammers can’t use the address. Just posting your address openly on the site welcomes all kinds of unwanted attention into your e-mail in-box. Plus, we have no way of verifying the age of anyone posting their e-mails in here, so there’s a liability issue as well if something were to happen involving someone underaged. Please refrain from that, comments including e-mail addresses will be deleted or edited. Thanks.

Hi, everyone. Her Blue Eyes has a new team member. Cait, a friend of Lindsey and myself since long before this site existed, has agreed to help out and assist with the Photo Gallery! We’d like to welcome her aboard and express our sincere appreciation for her assistance and efforts. She’s another Bridget lover like the rest of us! Welcome, Cait!

When you run a fansite a few of the things that you constantly wonder about are 1) Does the celebrity know that we exist? and 2) If they know we exist, do they like us and what we’re doing? Chris and I were both ENORMOUSLY flattered and more then a bit awe struck this evening when Bridget tweeted about our site.

Bridget, thank you! We may have come to know of you through Legend of the Seeker, but through your interviews, appearances, tweets, and other work we’ve come to appreciate you both as an actress and a person. I don’t know of many actors who would take time out of their day to acknowledge a fan effort so publicly. Which just makes you all the more nifty as far as we’re concerned.

To everyone who has left a comment here, wandered by the site, linked to us from your site, mentioned us on forums, entered our contests, and in any other way enjoyed the site, you guys are so awesome. It’s good to know that such a high class actress attracts such high class fans.

This was definitely a momentous occasion for Lindsey and me. We started this fansite with pretty humble intentions: just to give whatever fans stumbled upon us a place to learn about Bridget and discuss her among like-minded people. I don’t think words can express our happiness when we found out that not only were the fans responding well to the site but that Bridget was aware of us and appreciated our efforts.

This has always been a labor of love. We’d be doing this even if Bridget had no clue. But it is very rewarding to know she approves of our fan community. We couldn’t do it without all of you visiting us and commenting and spreading the word.

Thank you, Bridget, for sharing your gifts and your kind, intelligent, caring and funny personality with us, your many fans. As Lindsey said, through your interviews and your Tweets and live appearances, we’ve gotten to see a glimpse of a great person. We are really honored that you took the time to mention our work. It’s all but inevitable that on any site where people can post and discuss things, eventually something will have to be said on the site’s moderation policy. And, apparently for us the day for that post is today. First off, let me say that I have no problem with whatever you believe. I’m a sociologist and I’m usually very curious about, well, people. But I also don’t think that you have the right to try to shove your beliefs and ideas down my throat. As Chris and I have yet to kill each other, in fact we’re really good friends, when we’re polar opposites about the big stuff, it’s a safe assumption that he’s a pretty easy going guy about all this too.

We started the site to give people with an interest in Bridget one place to go for information, pictures, and anything else we could find about her. We also wanted to have fun. (And let me tell ya, running this place is a lot of fun.)  The fact that the site has become so popular is just an awesome side benefit.

All that being said, there is no place here for hatred or small mindedness. Chris and I will moderate or remove any comment that we feel is disrespectful to either Bridget or other fans. At the end of the day we want this to be a safe place for all of Bridget’s fans to come, regardless of what they believe. According to Amazon.com the first season of Bridget’s hit series Legend of the Seeker will be coming to DVD on October 13! To celebrate this during the months leading up to the release Chris and I will be holding a few contests with the prize being a copy of the DVDs when they come out. The contests will range from random chance to some skills required.

We’ll probably have the first one up tonight or tomorrow so be on the lookout!
