Also, the screening of B&B in LA that Bridget attended was a HUGE success and was completely sold out! Watch the video below to see what people had to say after the show!
Check out Bridget’s cast interview for The Best and the Brightest! Filmed during the movie’s production, it gives a nifty insight into Bridget’s character and how much fun everyone had on set. BIG BIG thanks to Bill and the B&B team for hooking us up with this video!
Bridget’s movie The Best and the Brightest is coming to Philly thanks to our good friend Bill!
On April 15 & 16 at 7:30pm The Best and the Brightest will be showing at the Prince Music Theater. Even better, there will be cast and crew in attendance for a Q&A after the movie. No word yet on which cast member(s) will be at these two shows, but as soon as it’s announced, we’ll let you know.
Also, there are still tickets available to the April 11 showing of B&B in LA that Bridget will be attending! This is phenomenal opportunity to get to interact with Bridget. Tickets: http://www.brownpapertickets.com/event/162411
At this point, our best bet for getting B&B a wide theatrical release is to sell out as many of these previews shows as possible. A wide release gets Bridget in front of more people, makes her more popular (because, let’s face it, who doesn’t love Bridget at first sight), and that means we all get to see her in more stuff. So if you’re in Philadelphia, or if you just want to support Bridget, please consider buying a ticket.
The fantastic Bill contacted me a bit ago about his work to get a screening of The Best and the Brightest in Philadelphia. Part and parcel of the whole process was that he got an advanced screening of the film and he was kind enough to write us up a review! Thanks Bill!
“The Best and the Brightest” Review
By Bill Crossland
If an armed assailant pointed a loaded weapon at my head and demanded that I describe The Best and the Brightest in only two words, I would have to go with “utterly refreshing.”
The new comedy is a studio quality production crafted at the independent level, and perhaps even more delightful is that it offers a much needed alternative to the stale formulas that have characterized the majority of mainstream post-nineties comedy films. It’s not that the film won’t appeal to mainstream audiences, but that it represents the kind of mature yet lighthearted fun that they don’t get the opportunity to enjoy much these days.
The story centers on a young couple, Jeff and Sam (played by Neil Patrick Harris and Bonnie Somerville) who, after inheriting some money courtesy of a dead aunt, relocate their family to upstate New York. It’s when the two middle-class parents take on the task of getting their daughter into an elite private kindergarten that things get deliciously wacky. For Sam, breaking through the stonewall of fake smiles and gag-inducing pretentiousness becomes symbolic of her last shot to have her family move up in the world, and the ridiculous lies she must sustain to blend in with the yuppies propel the comedy forward.
Here’s the thing: while The Best and the Brightest may not be the perfect film, it’s got the perfect measures of all the great comedy ingredients. It’s not a one note joke — it seems that, too often, comedies take one simple idea (drinking, doing drugs, don’t have sex with your friends) and stretch it out for two to two and a half insufferable hours. This film actually has a story, and kudos to first time feature film director (and co-writer) Josh Shelov for crafting comedic scenarios which flow naturally from the drama of the story rather than just having the characters sit around talking about how funny they are. The jokes don’t need explaining — probably because they’re funny to begin with.
Bridget’s Legend of the Seeker co-star Tabrett Bethell has joined the cast of ABC’s new pilot, Poe. The show centers around Edgar Allan Poe in a crime fighting procedural. Congrats Tabrett! We look forward to seeing you on our screens once again next fall!
Bridget’s movie, The Best and the Brightest, is coming to LA on April 11 and 12! And, to make it even better, Bridget will be there on the 11th and will take part in a Q&A after the show!
Chris and I would happily provide a couple of free tickets to anyone willing to go to the show for us and write up a review for us to post here on the site. If you’re interested, email me LindseyATherblueeyesDOTcom
Our thoughts and prayers go out to everyone in the Christchurch, NZ area in the wake of today’s massive earthquake, the second in only 5 months. New Zealand has served as such a wonderful backdrop for fantasy shows like Legend of the Seeker as well as Lord of the Rings and by all accounts the people there have been absolutely fantastic to the various film crews. We are saddened beyond belief by today’s events and Chris and I hope that if you have anyone in that part of the world, they’re doing ok.
A received an email from Bridget fan Stephen letting me know that IMDB had incorrectly listed Bridget in the movie Blinders. She was in a movie called Blinders, but it’s not the one she is listed on the credits for on IMDB and they’ve also listed her character with the wrong name. This is important because I used that information on our credits page. I have to admit, a lot of the time when it comes to smaller or indy films I’m at the mercy of sites like IMDB to help me figure out what Bridget’s been in. So a huge thanks to Stephen for helping me fix an error and for giving me a link to where you can watch the entire film! It’s a short film, not more than 10 minutes, and Bridget is in it for only a bit, but it is fun.
… not Bridget. The role has gone to Friday Night Lights actress Adrianne Palicki. Considering the timeline, I can’t help but feel that David E. Kelly already had her on a short list of actresses he was interested in seeing get the role. However, this does give Bridget more time to work with Camp W. as well as promoting The Best and the Brightest. Congratulations to Adrianne, I hope the show is fantastic and gives an entirely new generation of girls a strong female heroine to look up to.
Bridget has been listed over on TV Guide as one of the actresses perfect to play Wonder Woman in the new series. Stop on over, vote for her, and leave a comment telling everyone how spiffy cool you think it would be if Bridget got the part!
