Rating for “Extinction” Another “A” episode

This episode had lots of action. Kahlan and Richard were really going at it battling the soldiers who were killing the night wisps. The best fight was Richard taking on the big buy with the Keeper’s arm. Even Zedd fought a Mord-Sith – and won!
Notable in this episode is the scene where Cara and the night wisp talked about friendship. The wisp got Cara to say that she loved Richard, and that she cared for Kahlan and Zedd. And Cara was smilint (!!) when she watched the birth of the night wisps. Cara is indeed regaining her humanity. Hanging with Richard, Kahlan and Zeddd continues to rub off on Cara.

Bridget’s singing to the night wisps was beautiful; she can really sing.

Extinction was very well done. So far, there hasn’t been a bad episode in Season Two. Kudos to LotS!

Really enjoyed the episode. Looks like these last 4 episodes are going to be great. Double edged sword – make us more desperate if this is to be the end
I loved Cara when R/K were saying goodbye, so Cara. Now Cara is truly in touch with her humanity up comes next weeks episode. Argh. At least we can guess why ep 21 is called Unbroken – I hope.

At the beginning when Kahlan found out about the Nightwisps I have to say it went through my mind “don’t make me angry you won’t like me when I’m angry” Man those soldiers had no show! Scary.

    Another winner.
Instead of Extinction this ep should have been called Emotions because it was full of them.
My fave was seeing the Mother Confessor get mad as He-l. When she first sees the destruction of the night wisp forest you can see the anguish on her face, then you see it turn to anger. The eyes didn’t turn red but she was this close to the blood rage and she proceeded to turn the D’Haran soldiers into mincemeat. “Beautiful portrayal, Bridget”.
Cara went through every emotion in the book. Sarcasm, frustration, impatience, disgust, love, fear and awe were all brought to the surface.”Way to go, Tabrett”.
There were some really good moments between Richard and his(ahem)brother Darken Rahl but they were fleeting.
It was an enjoyable ep and served to whet my appetite for what is to come.
Now if we could just convince the fools who have let this show fall by the wayside to think again and give us more seasons I will truly be a happy camper.

This was a great episode in my mind, loved how the d’haran soldiers felt the wrath of the mother confessor, she literally stabbed one (poor) soldier 3 times, not that I can blame her. It almost felt like she would go into the blood rage but in a way I am glad they didn’t to at least keep con dar a little closer to the books. I was hoping to hear Bridget singing to the night wisps and we got that.
Cara was great too with her usual self and opening up to the wisp a bit. I loved how she offered her hand to Kahlan which to me was like a nod back to Marked where Kahlan grabbed her throat and threatened her after that.
Darken Rahl was identified as a baneling which he was in the books as well or as he would say an agent of the keeper. Of course the definition of a baneling is somewhat different in the show but to me it was still a good throwback to the books.
The six million dollar (or should I say I-robot) man was a bit typical but the fight sequence with Richard was pretty cool. I also liked that they brought the Listener back in this episode.
We are into the final 4 episodes of the season and it looks like the next 3 will be in sequence to the end of the story. This will make it harder to wait till next week not that we have a choice, at least I can re-watch this one a few times to get myself ready for the next one…

The highlight was watching Richard and Dark together, fighting the Sisters. Great scene! Good ole Darken remained as deceptive as ever. A showcase for such fine acting from everyone.

    absolutely stunning episode.

Fight scenes are great as always. Kahlan has proven herself so many times that she could be dangerous as hell and at the same time can bring out her emotions well. Watching her makes me feel her own rage, this is what she do best. She carries the weight of the world but she is not lacking any composure.

CAra on the other hand is exposing her soft spot, in a funny way.I admire her scene talking to the night wisps. At least she gets to smile few times.

Fight scenes on this episode makes me want to be a part of it. haha. keep my jaw drop all the time.

I am concern that the last few episodes would make me screaming for more! Now that we learned season 3 aint gonna be there.

but anyways, right. we can always replay this great show. and I will never get tired of that.

After reading all the comments above, all I can add is when Cara walked into the birthing area it made her look really beautiful. It was nice to see her show some emotions. Too bad momma wisp had to die. =(

I really wish this show wasn’t over. =( This episode alone was reason enough to keep it around.

I love the pace of this one. So much was happening, in all different directions, with such intensity! I felt like I needed a seatbelt!

Two scenes stick out for me – although all the other ones were excellent, too. The first was Cara witnessing the birth of the nightwisps. Wow, her face just lit up. A pivotal moment for her, I believe, especially given the previews for next week’s ep. The other scene was when Darken said to Richard, “Behind you,” as he was dying. A good moment – and hopefully this will be important in the next three eps, too.

Kahlan talking to the night wisp about Richard, and Cara talking to it about her feelings were also a lot of fun. They both have such great smiles. :-)

    Just one word….FANTASTIC!!!!!!!!

  • By Cait, May 3, 2010 @ 10:14 pm

I loved this episode too. I had to laugh when Cara was all “can we speed this up? She loves you, you love her. I should protect her as if she were you…” and when she was talking to the Night Wisp and getting agitated with it. The fight scene with Richard and Rahl was very good. Can’t wait to see next weeks episode.

@Cait… tru. That was among the best lines.
Cara has become the character that voices my thoughts just as they enter my mind while watching. Great writing in that regard. She is the perfect way to temper the fantasy with some dose of reality. Big kudos to Cara.

And she smiled a genuine smile for the first time (that I’ve noticed.) **heart**

I have a question for Yassir. He said Darken Rahl was a baneling in the books. I’ve only read the first book, but I didn’t see any reference to that. Does it happen later? If so, which book? (I’ve just started Book 2)

  • By Yasir, May 6, 2010 @ 7:25 am

    @ravenwood

    ****** BOOK SPOILER ALERT **************
If you recall the last thing Darken Rahl said to Zedd before he died in WFR is that he was an agent. What that means as it’s explained in book 2 is that he was an agent of the keeper / baneling.

It was an exciting episode to watch, as mentioned earlier it was cool to see Kahlan going berserker over seeing most of the night whisps being slaughtered, and to see Cara continuing progressing into being a more thoughtful, caring person. Hope these last episodes will just keep getting more epic. I will definetly read the books after Sessions 2 is finished and probably watch it again. Thanks for such a brilliant, well-done and epic TV-series. Goodluck to Bridget in the future, she’s great :D

  • By Dman, May 7, 2010 @ 7:37 pm

Beautiful Bridget !!!!1 We need to see more of her !! I find that since there are more characters introduced there is less of her. She is just one of those wonderful actress to watch. Lately though, we just see less of her beautiful endearing personality. Season one, we see her natural beauty..and i would keep watching her beautiful smile. Of course the character have evolved somewhat and the show is definitely more serious now. Very Very Very beautiful lady to watch …love to see more of her joyful and playful smiles and more of her vulnerability. Not too much make up she really does not need much. Shes not a model she khalan..a few hair out of place makes her even more attractive. HOTTTTT
