Rating for episode 15, Creator: “A” That’s 15 hits in a row.
This episode was more of a mystery episode than an action adventure. The question was whether the woman claiming to be the creator was real or simply deluded. As the episode ended, the question was still unresolved, which makes this episode thought provoking.
Richard and Kahlan had the primary roles in this episode, and they both performed admirably. Keisha Castle-Hughes did a convincing job as the creator, which was a tough job – playing the part so that it would be believable that she is was or wasn’t the creator.
This episode had as a theme whether God would actually take human form, which is a key question in Christianity. However, the only problem for the plot is that in Christianity, God is all wise and all knowing, so God in human form would never doubt that Richard Cypher was good.
Season Two just keeps belting out these home runs. The current situation where Season Three is in doubt makes these new episodes even more important – knowing that the Seeker’s quest may soon be over.

I don’t mean to sound too negative since LOTS is still my favorite show but this episode wasn’t my favorite by any means. There were some good things like Keisha’s performance was good and Cara’s reaction to the creator was exactly what mine was throughout the episode.
I just don’t think the creator (if indeed that was her) has read the books or even watched any of LOTS episodes before coming down to midlands. Is Richard a servant of the keeper???? hmmm…boy that’s a tough one. I think I am going to have to take a rain check on that and try to re-watch all episodes again to see if I missed anything important. Of course now I am starting to have doubts like Richard, am I really believing the truth or maybe the writers have been passing me a subliminal message to think what they want me to think.
I would have liked it better had they stuck with Cara’s version of events at the end cause if that really was the creator man is the new world in trouble.
Not my favorite episode but I still enjoyed it. One thing I did think about regarding why everyone ends up in the bad part of underworld when they die. Maybe it’s because the creator’s good/bad scale is a little on the bad side.

Creator had some nice touches, like when Cara starts forward to take on the creator in a fight. That’s spunky!
And Darken Rahl failing and getting chewed out by the Keeper was gratifying. It’s nice to see Darken grovel.
Any episode in which the creator of the universe likes Kahlan is OK. Maybe the creator can pull some strings and arrange for a Season Three.

I would have liked to see Cara go toe-to-toe with the little whipper snapper “Creator”. If Mord Sith turn all majic against the user, I don’t see why it would have been any different with this little girl who wasn’t even born with any majic of her own. Seeing Cara blow the kid back would have made me smile.

This episode was ok. I think it was one of the weakest I’ve seen though. I didn’t like the clip show aspect and also was bothered by the camera going to the blond guy with the beard all of the time. Why is the Prelate so nasty too? I’m not one to complain about the show not being like the book, just seems so odd there is such a difference in character is all. Maybe it’s leading up to something though.

Why didn’t they kiss? There was the perfect opportunity when she went to him to give him the pep talk.
And why didn’t they recap any of the romantic parts? Another perfect opportunity was when Richard was explaining why he didn’t want to stay at the Palace of the Prophets. He said it was because the sisters lied to him but in the episode he said he’d have to give up the love of his life if he stayed.
Why can’t they kiss more.
By Yasir, March 27, 2010 @ 11:33 pm
I would be ok if they just hold hands a little more and at least cuddle a bit around the campfires, just too bad Bridget is not allowed to do that a much as she and Craig want to…

Didn’t care for this ep. The saving grace was that there was at least enough Bridget in it to satisfy me. All our regular crew were fabulous as usual and Keisha did an excellent job, but the storyline was sorely lacking and left too many holes to be filled in.
If she was the Creator—
She let herself be born human without power until she became of age(apparently 20). So does this mean the world was left without a “God” or creator for this lenghth of time just so she’d be around to kill Richard.
If she is not the Creator—How did the Sisters of the Light know about her and give her all their Han?
Why is it when people(even in the Midlands) pray, they bow their heads and when Darken Rahl or anyone else speaks to the Keeper they look up?
Don’t care for the way they are portraying Ann, the Prelate, She comes across as more of a Sister of the Dark than anything else.
If God came to earth and we believed it was him/her as they sort of did in this story, it would be a thing of epic proportion. In this story Keisha walks in and basically says”Howdy folks, I’m the creator and I’m here to zap Richard down to his master, the Keeper.”
Kahlan, as only she can do, with the help of her friends shows the (Creator?) that she is NOT all knowing and all seeing. Basically, she doesn’t know squat.
The (Creator?) then says “Okay folks I’ve lost All my power from a couple of hundred Sisters of the Light by repairing this one little rift so Ta-Ta for now”.
Okay it maybe wasn’t that goofy, but pretty darn close.
Watch it to get your fill of the beautiful Ms.Regan, to smile at some of Cara’s reactions and just for a laugh. It also recaps past eps so it will jog your memory.
NOT my favourite ep, but forever my favourite show.
I also agree that Kahlan and Richard should be shown walking hand in hand at times. They should sleep close by each other and sometimes cuddle, even if they are not permitted to do more.People who are supposed to adore each other would not just give each other a small kiss now and then, there would be a little more physical contact.
Okay-I’m done ranting now.

I generally enjoyed the episode. However, I was disappointed because it ended up being little more than a clip episode (ie, full of clips from previous episodes). This is a disservice to any loyal fan who has already seem all of these episodes. The “Creator” was interesting, but so much could have been done without the clips.
By Daniel, March 28, 2010 @ 4:30 am
I read somewhere else online that an episode like this is required from time to time to leverage budget to other episodes. That makes sense to me, just a bunner is all.
By Rachel, March 28, 2010 @ 9:05 am
I agree with what has already been said in the previous comments. I live for K/R moments so it’s disapointing when there are great opportunities for them and we don’t get them. *sad face*
I am praying for season 3!!! On bended knees.
By Purplexion, March 28, 2010 @ 11:30 am
I have one word for this episode……..BOOOOOO!
I realize they may have to budget some episodes to make others better, but to have a 3 week rerun stint, one good new episode(Bound), THIS recap, and then another rerun is not helping them to win another season, in my humble opinion. The timing couldn’t have been worse.
Absence makes the heart grow fonder, especially where Bridget is concerned, but it does nothing for audiences.
The story was pretty weak to me. The Creator was hell-bent on executing Richard, but then he pushes her out of the way at the end and she’s just like, ‘Well, ok, I was wrong. Sorry. Bye.’
Wouldn’t you think Zedd could sense how powerful this ‘creator’ was no matter her true identity and that his wizard’s fire would have zero effect?
The highlight of the show to me was Cara kickin’ some Sister of Light butt and Darken Rahl’s interaction with the Keeper.
Maybe I’m being too harsh because I’m such a fan of the show, but….
Creator gets an A for Bridget, D for timing and content.

@Purplexion
Yep. What you said.
By Purplexion, March 28, 2010 @ 11:44 am
Sorry, but just to add since there’s never much mention….
Craig Parker makes an excellent evil adversary. I wish they could do more with him somehow.
As someone who has been into weightlifting for a while I’d like to say Craig Horner’s abs are not the most impressive part to me, his rear deltoids are. Those are very hard to get that kinda definition out of. Abs can show with mild work and very low body fat, rear delts are WORK.
Ok…had to get that out. =)
By Patricia, March 28, 2010 @ 1:39 pm
Thanks for letting us know that, Purplexion.
I’ll have to do a thorough review to see what *exactly* you’re saying. For purely scientific reasons, of course.
By Chiara, March 28, 2010 @ 2:52 pm
I have to say that “Creator” was not one of my favourite episode so far…..but I think that it is also difficult to built a credible story line in just a 45/50 minutes show every week. The problem is that they write a story that starts and ends in this short frame of time and inevitably much is left unsaid. However as long as I have my LOTS every weekend I am HAPPY!
By Melissa, March 28, 2010 @ 8:55 pm
I thought that the episode was ok. It really wasn’t what I thought it would be. I didn’t realize it was going to be a clip show. Anytime you get to see LotS is great, but this episode good have been better. Bridget was wonderful like always.
By Purplexion, March 28, 2010 @ 9:57 pm
Patricia- Anything I can do to promote the show.
Btw, rear delts are the back of his shoulders not his buns.
By Patricia, March 29, 2010 @ 9:16 am
@Purplexion “rear delts are the back of his shoulders not his buns”
By Luis, March 29, 2010 @ 11:08 am
i agree with some of the people above, the timing of the creator’s entrance was a bit off, and it was awkward
But apart from that, Cara made the episode epic she has this humor that always gets me xD and the rest of the old crew (craig, bridget, bruce, darken rahl) were about the only ones who were acting pretty good so A for them
Fav part:
Caras expression and comments when the mother came LOL “thats absurd =)”
By Luis, March 29, 2010 @ 11:14 am
oh oh and
“The creator ran off…with..a boy”
ROFL
By Dennis, March 29, 2010 @ 11:41 am
@Luis, TRU!
Cara rules. I so wish they would have let Cara go toe-to-toe with little fake Creator girl.
I give this Ep a C+. It was mostly weak compared to other Seeker Eps — with the flashbacks and a silly plot — but it was lighter on the flashbacks than most other flashback shows do. At least they gave us a bit of a story to munch on. As usual, if they would just listen to Cara from the start things would be so much easier. She could have handled the little twerp by herself.
Are you guys still writing your letters to Disney-ABC?
By RandyAW, March 29, 2010 @ 5:36 pm
I can understand the reasoning behind a “recap” ep and have no problems with that being done, but this one was one very, VERY weak episode.
Cara was the lone worthwhile portion and the rest of it was what could arguably be the weakest this season. The writing and the story were subpar and it was a waste using Keisha Castle-Hughes in it.
Sorry, I tried, and as much as I love LOTS,I haven’t been able to like it and it’s the only ep I most likely will never bother watching again.
By Deidre, March 29, 2010 @ 6:30 pm
Love LOTS!!! 1 hour is never enough! This Ep wasnt my favorite but, I could understand the purpose…I loved Tabrett she is “dead on” Cara! I thought Richard having doubts was real…anyone in his position would have doubts…and Kahlan supporting him as always…after this Ep Richard should have no doubts about his mission or Kahlans love or her faith in him. I think as always it will all come together by Ep 22 and beyond!!!! I agree with some of my fellow fans above I am missing more physical contact between R&K and this Ep I think required it!
By icarts, March 29, 2010 @ 6:42 pm
i think this episode was fine, but i was definitely disappointed. i love whale rider, and keisha castle-hughes is an amazing actress. i feel like they could have done a lot more with her than a clip show.
By gecko_artist, March 29, 2010 @ 8:41 pm
When I first started watching “Creator” I thought – oh. Another clip episode. Yes, the necessary evil of all episodic television. However I found that this caused me to rethink some of what I had seen previously. The Creator puts Richard on “trial” and for the evidence, recaps previous bits…. but the bits are now seen in a different light. Why IS Richard so bent on ignoring THIS prophicy of giving the Stone of Tears to the “enemies of the Light”?
On the downside – BOO to a rerun for next week! It’s hard enough to get new watchers on a show and grow the fan base, but when we can’t get a decent long run of new episodes it hurts in the long run. Advertisers want REPEAT business – fans who watch every week. We do! But the new ones who haven’t fallen in love with Bridget yet…. well they may not return. Just my two pennies.
By Yasir, March 29, 2010 @ 10:41 pm
Richard believes in free will and ignore prophecies as a matter of principal since prophecies are not always clear from the words. The enemy of light doesn’t necessarily mean keeper and from what we have seen so far the sisters of light have done more bad than good. More so if you were to believe in prophecies there is another one which basically means Richard has to fight a new enemy after the keeper. If he is to be killed what happens to the other prophecy. This is exactly the reason Richard as a matter of principal ignores prophecies.
This is the core essence of who Richard is and as much as they have changed things from the book this part is pretty much intact.
By RandyAW, March 29, 2010 @ 11:18 pm
@gecko_artist
“But the new ones who haven’t fallen in love with Bridget yet…”
I don’t see how that could be possible.
By Dennis, March 30, 2010 @ 1:14 pm
I thought I was the critical one on here. “Creator” Ep wasn’t THAT bad… I think there’s a bit of some high expectations floating around here. Sure, compared to other LotS it was on the weak side, but how about comparing it to the other drivel on the same channel: Pre-Teen Vampire Angst In a Small Town, Teenage Vampire Douchbags Chasing Girls, College Vampires Coming of Age… **throwup in my mouth**…
And by the by, Cara was the best part of this Ep; her usual smartassness, her facial expressions, she whooped some Sisters of the Traveling Pants. For only being given 3 lines in the whole Ep, Tab killed it.
Diff topic: I strongly suggest everyone go see “How to Train Your Dragon” on IMAX 3D. Its beyond good. Don’t skimp out on the 3D — it makes Avatar look like Scooby-Doo.

By Patricia, April 2, 2010 @ 9:35 am
Totally agree, Dennis. We do have high expectations and it is still better than most of what’s on. It wasn’t my favorite ep of the season but it wasn’t my least favorite either.
Although I do agree with others who’ve said they thought the writers could have done a lot more with KCH. The same goes for Craig Parker. The little doses we have had of him so far this season just aren’t enough; I miss his presence.
By Bill, April 5, 2010 @ 4:49 pm
It’s a shame — Craig Parker is being terribly underutilized this season. It’s not the brevity of his appearances but the underdeveloped quality of them. Darken Rahl was a badass in life…you’d think he’d be even more imposing as a ghost, not some dime-store Senator Palpatine hologram.
But his longer scenes in the underworld are better, and his appearance in “Perdition” was awesome.
Expectations are a funny thing. We shouldn’t blame ourselves for expecting quality, but being realistic about it often results in pleasant surprises. I’m not sure why I even typed that…it solves nothing. Oh well, your daily dose of philosophy is on me today.

Yes Bill, but I still can’t figure out: If a man is walking in a forest and no women is there to hear him is he still wrong?
