Wow, has it been a crazy couple of weeks around here or what? Letters, birthdays, and a visit from a producer (how awesome is that?) have definitely taken us from the previous few weeks where the only posts we were making were our episode discussions! I really appreciate all of you who have been around and stayed around during our craziness, and all the HUGE amounts of love that have come at us through the comments and our email.
See? This is why Chris always does these posts because I tend to want to ramble in them. Sadly, he’s out sick today. Didn’t know you could have a sick day from a website did ya? And so you’re instead stuck with me… rambling.
“Torn” looks like it’s going to be an AWESOME episode for Bridget so I know this will be a very interesting discussion! Use the comments below to share what you thought of this weekends episode.

Rating for TORN: “A”. The winning streak continues.
*****Spoiler Alert*******
What an episode. Kahlan and Richard make love!! Meanwhile, the Confessor Kahlan sentences Zedd to death!!! Talk about schizophrenia.
It was nice to see Richard and Kahlan together. Unfortunately, it was Richard and half of Kahlan, so in a sense they didn’t get together.
This episode belongs to Kahlan. Bridget Regan did a superb job in playing dark (Confessor Kahlan) and romantic (heart Kahlan).
In addition to being romantic, this episode had a nice moral: humans need to use both their heads and their hearts. To be heartless or stupid is a mistake.
Also memorable was when Kahlan accused Cara of coming on to Richard. Nice scene.
The preview for next week’s episode shows Cara becoming a baneling. Yikes!!!
By Sarah, February 13, 2010 @ 5:39 pm
This episode surpassed all my expectations, and I already knew I was going to love it. I kept trying to fast forward through commercials and rewind the critical moments (on live tv), it was that good. Especially Bridget. If I didn’t know she was a powerhouse of an actress before this would have convinced me. Her expressions were so subtly different when the two Kahlans were standing side by side, but there was no doubt which was the “Heart” and which was the “Mind” of her, as Zedd explained. Those were the best scenes when they were sizing one another up and rejecting one another, even without the dialogue. I probably shouldn’t have preferred the ruthless one, but I couldn’t help being impressed by the way she used her power to manipulate and crush the very image of herself. It was so twisted.
I think the new dark costume was so fascinating and effective in this one too because of the contrast with the heartless Kahlan in the pristine white dress, and the one who loved Richard was unable to hide her vulnerability behind the black liner. It was poetic. And LOL at the Mother Confessor’s nixing the foreplay and challenging Fyren to impress her. The other Kahlan even topped that when she inadvertently suggested to Richard that she would be open to threesomes with Cara. It wasn’t remotely funny from her perspective, but I was thinking some fans are going to have a field day.
Then the battle scene with Mind Kahlan standing by looking impatiently on as though she were watching pawns in a chess game, and Heart Kahlan looking lost and scared on behalf of Richard. Of course Cara finally had enough of that and was instrumental in saving the day. I also loved that when Kahlan was put back together and asked how the lovemaking went we got probably the most genuine smile I’ve seen from Richard yet. I’m glad Aydendril was brought back to the forefront again and some temporary resolution was reached. Still I hope she returns at some point…next season hopefully?
Quite a combination of darkness and light, humor and angst, duty and desire, heart and mind. Perfect balance. Perfect episode.

Wow. Just wow…
Damn, she’s good…
That was a lot of fun to watch.

“That episode was ok. Bridget Regan is cute. She can kind of act.”
- This post has been a lesson in understatement. Class dismissed.
By Charlie Schmidt, February 13, 2010 @ 9:31 pm
Here’s a memorable quote:
Heartless Kahlan: Get out of my chair!
Also, when Heart Kahlan accused Cara of trying to woo Richard, Cara’s reactions seemed to indicate that Cara does want Richard (but Cara probably hasn’t pursued it because she knows Richard loves Kahlan).
Torn is another excellent episode. With consistent excellent episodes like this, LotS won’t be cancelled.
By Melissa, February 13, 2010 @ 10:41 pm
OMG!!!!This episode was kick butt!!! My expectations for this episode was far surpassed. I could hardly wait to see it and it was worth the wait. I knew that it was going to be awesome and it was. I loved it.
Bridget is absolutely wonderful in the way that she portrays Kahlan. She always does a wonderful job; however this was her Tour de France, her episode to shine and she should be proud of the work that she did. It was cool seeing “heart” Kahlan and “duty” Kahlan. Seeing the two parts of her and how she struggles to keep them in check. “Duty” Kahlan was ruthless to say the least, she was all about justice and all of that but definately ruthless. “Heart Kahlan was insecure in herself and with Richard. She just wanted to live and love Richard and all the entails. It was so interesting seeing both halves.
My favorites parts of the episode were when Prince Freyn says, “tell me what I can do for you?”, and Kahlan says “get out of my chair.”
When she takes him for a mate and he tells her “that I’ll please you in ways you can’t imagine.” Her response, “I doubt that but you can try.” He starts kissing her and she tells him “that won’t be necessary just take off your clothes.”
I thought I was going to fall off the couch laughing. The fact that both Kahlan’s were having sex at the same time.
When Confessor Kahlan confesses heart Kahlan and she says it seems my emotions are still getting in the way. She basically confesses herself. How cool is that??
I feel that this is the best show on TV right now. I am definately going to do my part to help let TPTB know that we WANT MORE Legend of the Seeker!!!! I love the characters of Richard and Kahlan. I just finished reading the Sword of Truth saga and I think that Bridget is true to the character of Kahlan. Bridget ROCKS!! Long live Legend of the Seeker. Can’t wait to see where they go from here.
By Busse, February 14, 2010 @ 4:24 am
Love it… she really has the ability to “create” those too Kahlan ( did she said she made them up on the flight to new zealand, only ?! )
Love to see those too “different” ones.
Someone remember Bridget first explanation of Kahlan, when she talked about “dignity” and “wit” that was all the “confessor” One .. Great
Is it only for me , that I cant believe that such quality someone can ask from an actor whit just , as bridget point out, on two takes ?! give me a break ! If she does that what else could she show given a little bit more time ?!
Cant wait what she can also play , if she has such abilities in expressing characters … ( Her Role in “Best and the brightest” is not to be seen soon, Bridget talked in that interview about Christmas 2010 )
From My Part I liked the First Season better, als more Feelings where adressed , now its a little bit Fight and Specials …
oh … by the way Bridget mentioned they are now with Episode 20
By fuat atalayer, February 14, 2010 @ 4:47 am
Hey all,
i must say episode is A- but Bridget was (as always and she will be) perfect. 2 different roles in one episode wowooow.
LoTS must continue to 3rd and more seasons. it is not an ordinary show. it is going to be a classic. Production and casting is good.
By Anna, February 14, 2010 @ 5:41 am
I have watch it!!!! it’s great awesome a master work!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
By Mathew, February 14, 2010 @ 6:50 am
Man that was awesome! Except Feyren getting some action…
Seeing Kahlan extremely vulnerable (heart version) was surreal, I felt so bad for her.
I’m not much of a complainer when it comes to Kahlan but I was not enjoying her duty confessor hair much (probably intentional huh?).
This was such a great episode and was worth the wait!
I hope they get another episode that she’s the focal point again!
By Flip, February 14, 2010 @ 9:02 am
All around fantastic. Bridget was incredibly believable in both roles. What an actress!
The flow of the scenes were seemless. Not once did I feel that the two Kahlan’s were not there together. Just amazing.
Great writing. Twists and turns (right before commericals, argh!!). This show has really great suspense at different times but is not ALL cliff hanger to be over the top.
I loved the logic war between Richard and Heartless Richard towards the end on killing Zedd. I love those scenes when Richard outsmarts his opponent….as he always does. But Heartless Kahlan no easy pushover. Of course in the end everyone always loses their temper and start killing each other.
This series never leaves me flat but wanting more. And they do this for 22 episodes? Truly amazing. No wonder everyone is fried out in the end.
BUT WE APPRECIATE IT ALL. GOOOOO SEASON 3.
(I hope they are not too burnt for Season 3!!!)
By Flip, February 14, 2010 @ 9:17 am
Oh BTW…heading to the Midlands to find romantic Kahlan since Richard blew her off…maybe she popped up in another spot…
You guys can take heartless Kahlan!!
By iolanthe, February 14, 2010 @ 9:54 am
Absolutely the best ep so far! kahlan and cara as usual were both hilarious..I loved how Kahlan confessed Prince Feyren cause she wanted her chair back! LOL! (hypothetically speaking of course) And Cara’s comment about the horses were down right funny..
I just hoped that I would see Kahlan kick Cara’s butt in that last fight for the sake of argument cause we’ve never seen them fight like that. And since I’m a Kahlan fan, I was definitely disappointed she kinda lost even if she was the heartless Kahlan.
I love Tabrett and I so love Cara! In the books however, one person is not really a threat to a Confessor so to speak, since one touch to a person in whatever body part, whether with clothes or not, could still lead to confession. So, the scene with Cara restraining Kahlan was all wrong since she could’ve still been confessed by Kahlan..harhar! But anyways, the writers did have to find a way to resolve the issue so, it was left with Cara to rescue the day..which is why I understand..
I love their fight scenes anyways when they’re fighting side by side so, who am I to complain? =)
Hopefully though, we could see an episode where Kahlan emerges the victor in a Kahlan-Cara face off..just to prove a point that she’s stronger..harhar! Still, I loved every minute of this episode! Can’t wait for the Cara-centric ep next week!
By ark, February 14, 2010 @ 10:58 am
Since this was a Kahlan-centric episode, and this site is all about Bridget, I thought I’d post a review that centers on Kahlan/Bridget.
I know everyone will agree with me on this:
Bridget was… Fantastic. Brilliant. Awesome. Great. Amazing. Incredible. Unreal. Just… gaaahhh… I can’t think of an adjective that would do her justice, so from now on, I’ll just say Bridget was bridget. That’s a knew word I, in my utter brilliance, came up with. It means every good adjective you could think of and more.
I know I sound like a confessed person. I probably am. Bridget was simply bridget in this episode. If somebody didn’t already love her (and I think that’s highly unlikely), I think they’ll change their mind after watching this episode.
Alright, I’ll quit being a total geek and get on with the review.
>>> The 2 Kahlans:
Damn… See, this is why I think Bridget is bridget. She portrayed both halves of Kahlan perfectly. Confessor-Kahlan was efficient, fearless, intelligent, but at the same time, she was ruthless and she put too much stock on her own judgement. She was really cool and I liked her, but at the same time I didn’t like her because she was heartless. Non-Confessor Kahlan, on the other hand, was weak and bit “wishy-washy”, but she had the heart that drew me to her in the first place. I thought she was a bit annoying, but I still couldn’t not like her.
Bridget was brilliant. What really amazes me was that she was able to somehow “split” her acting. When Bridget plays the real Kahlan, you could feel her strength and her heart even if she was just standing there doing nothing. When Bridget plays the Confessor-Kahlan, you could see that she’s a very effective leader even when she’s just sitting and reading some document, but that’s all you could see. When Bridget plays the Non-Confessor Kahlan, you could feel the raw emotion from her but you could also sense her weakness even without her saying or doing anything. How does Bridget do this? How can she evoke specific feelings without doing anything? I’ve given up trying to figure it out. Bridget is bridget, and this episode is the best “one-actress-playing-two-people” show in the history of TV and movies.
>>> Kahlan and Richard’s conversation:
Was actually quite sweet. Both at the beginning, the middle, and the end of the episode.
When they were talking about that romantic place at the beginning of the episode, I thought that was pretty, well, romantic. It was nice how they talked about how they might be able to catch the sunset if they hurry up.
The “morning after” conversation was great too. When Kahlan talked about having a normal life, making breakfast for each other, and then Richard replied “Everyday”, and then the camera went back to Kahlan and her face, and Oh Lord her smile… There’s a type of beauty that makes men’s blood boil and a type of beauty that makes men’s heart melt. Kahlan has the latter. And I’m going all soft and gooey inside. This is probably unhealthy, but I wish she were real and, more importantly, mine.
I also liked Richard and Kahlan’s talk at the end of the episode. I like how they didn’t get awkward when they were talking about what was essentially their first time together. They were very comfortable and this is what I like best about their relationship. After a bit of denial on Kahlan’s part at the beginning, they’ve really come to accept their love for each other. They love each other and they know it. It just is.
>>> And speaking of sex:
I thought it was pretty funny how they showed us nothing. When they cut to dark, I could practically hear the million R/K shippers screaming foul at the writers. LOL.
As for Kahlan being with Fyren, I kept thinking “wtf! wtf! wtf!” throughout the whole thing. And really, WTF! I don’t hate it, but…WTF. Yeah, that’s my reaction to that. Although, I thought it was hilarious how Confessor-Kahlan repeatedly put Fyren down.
>>> Kahlan confessing Fyren:
That was awesome. The whole scene where Kahlan looked up from her hood, confessed Fyren, then had her hood fall off. That was beautiful.
>>> Confessor-Kahlan confessing her other half:
My first reaction was: Did that just happen? And then Non-Confessor went and called her mistress for a lot of times. I thought that was entertaining. Kahlan loves herself. LOL. Bridget must’ve had a lot of fun playing that part. She got to play a the other side. Hehe…
>>> Other things:
Aydindril wasn’t as impressive as how I had imagined it, but I don’t mind. It was still a great episode.
I liked how Richard quickly figured out that the Non-Confessor Kahlan wasn’t really Kahlan. It shows that he really knows her.
Richard and Confessor-Kahlan’s debate about the laws of Aydindril was pretty neat too. The Seeker vs the Mother Confessor. Cool.
>>> If I were to pick between Confessor-Kahlan and Non-confessor-Kahlan, I’d pick Confessor-Kahlan. But like Richard, I want all of her.
By Patricia, February 14, 2010 @ 12:43 pm
My favorite line had to be…”Many times!” from Confessor-Kahlan.
Still LOLing about that one…
By Kyoku, February 14, 2010 @ 1:35 pm
I loved the episode. Only part that made me cringe was the Kahlan choosing a mate part. I’m not going to lie, that hurted.
At the end of the episode, Kahlan says something odd. “If needed, I will send for my sisters to come help the council” ??? Not exact words she said but close enough. I was under the impression she was the last of them, the confessors that is.
By Sarah, February 14, 2010 @ 1:50 pm
She and her sister Dennee are the last confessors.
By RandyAW, February 14, 2010 @ 3:06 pm
I guess I fall into the catagory of those who found it to be just about the best episode so far this year. I hadn’t had this much fun watching Bridget since her portrayal of the “Mirror” Kahlan, which I found to be some of the best moments of season one.
The Confessor Kahlan was such a stark contrast to the Kahlan we all know and love, that at first it was a bit of a shock, even though she slowly eased into it. I think what was most amazing is how Bridget removed any emotion from her eyes, which after having been used to so much emotion there, says a lot for her acting.
I know a bunch of folks found Emotional Kahlan annoying but as someone who had no emotional brakes she came across as more sad then anything. So her behavior is quite understandable.
Loved seeing Richard wanting Kahlan as she always was, after all his love for Kahlan wouldn’t be very deep if he didn’t except her with the problems that come with it.
As far as the nay sayers go who say just be done with Richard and Kahlan, since they still can’t be together, bear in mind, its a shallow love indeed if the fact you can’t “sleep” together makes you give up and leave. Sometimes holding hands is just as deep as lovemaking. That translates just as well with R/K onto the TV.
I love Tab’s portayal of Cara, that seething malevolence just below (and sometimes above) the surface is really well played. She has made a fine addition to the show, and to think at first I wasn’t sure how that would work out.
I give the cast great kudos for their chemistry, they make so many things work, even during the weakest of written episodes. This episode in no way falls into weak, so cheers to the writers and director as well.
By Loretta, February 14, 2010 @ 3:40 pm
I love episode. Bridget was amazing
By Melissa, February 14, 2010 @ 6:45 pm
I agree with By RandyAW in regards to the nay sayers who say to be done with Richard and Kahlan, since they can’t be together. Richard finds a way to be with Kahlan in the books, so there just needs to be time for them to try and work in into the series. I think that the sexual tension adds to the show and I love watching the emotions that Richard and Kahlan show. I love the show and I can’t believe how good it has been.
Kahlan was the last confessor; however Denna was able to bring her back and now there is two.
I am going to watch Torn again tonight. I think that Bridget is amazing.
By Purplexion, February 14, 2010 @ 6:55 pm
All I can say is I’m happy I have DVR. I rewound that episode more than any of the others the first time through just so I could catch all the expressions and looks from Kahlan and Cara.
That was one of the best episodes of the series so far to me. Our girl, Bridget, had EVERYTHING to do with it, too.
I can’t wait to see next week given the teasers at the end. Cara=baneling? How’s she gonna get out of that? Or is she just going to go on killing sprees at night during her ‘watch’ over the campsite?
By Patricia, February 14, 2010 @ 7:31 pm
Another cool scene was in the beginning when Richard and Kahlan simultaneously draw their weapons – with the exact same motion. The little things like that….just make it so much better.
I have to say the entire sequence starting when Richard first confronts Confessor-Kahlan followed by Emotion-Kahlan and Confessor-Kahlan seeing each other, and then the fight….that was my favorite so far this season. Superb acting by Bridget and Craig.
By olivia, February 15, 2010 @ 2:22 am
richard’s face when confessor kahlan says she and fyren were ‘intimate many times’? priceless.
By Patricia, February 15, 2010 @ 8:39 am
OK, some more things I loved about this ep…first, pre-torn Kahlan when she tells Richard, “My home is with you”, and then post-torn Kahlan when she tells him, “That place is with you.”
Lines like that can so easily come off as…corny…but these definitely did not. She says them with so much conviction, so much meaning, that it’s quite romantic…
And the other one I can watch over and over is when he bends over to kiss her and she pulls him in for a second one…and the smile on his face afterwards…too cute!
By fuat atalayer, February 15, 2010 @ 9:01 am
@ Patricia,
Those smiles; ah those smiles. Expecially when the morning sun on Kahlan’s face, she was so beautiful on that scene and her smiles blow my head/mind/soul off.
By Dennis, February 15, 2010 @ 10:07 am
That was a good Ep. Grade A.
I can’t find much to complain about it. Bridget did a great job playing two psycho chicks. I was falling off the couch laughing when she was getting jealous of Cara + Richard. So funny. She knocked this one out of the park.
One nitpick: at the end, when Cara had “power b*tch” Kahlan pinned with her agiels, BR did not look like she was being ageiled. No wincing, no pain. Unless I missed something about that scene, that could have been more convincing to me.
Next week’s Ep: I’m super p*ssed that Cara becomes a baneling. I hope there’s some mystical “book of breathless wonders” they can quest to find that will restore her to life minus zombieness. However, it looks like she gets some nekkid time on screen, so that’ll fun.

A STAR IS BORN! If the people that run this business don’t notice Bridget Regan after this performance, they need to find other work. She was outstanding in this episode. I don’t need no say any more. I enjoy this show very much and love Bridget Regan. Great job!
By darkops, February 16, 2010 @ 10:32 am

I second that. I am confident she is getting noticed. It’s hard to ignore something that shines with such intensity.
Scene in BigMovieStudioConferenceRoom:
headHoncho: “My daughter made me sit down with her over the weekend to watch an episode of this little syndicated show called Legend of the Seeker.”
yesMen: *snicker*
headHoncho: “For the life of me, I don’t know what you people are chuckling at.”
yesMen: *stiffen*
headHoncho: “The episode was called ‘Torn’ and it featured this mesmerizing actress named Bridget Regan. I’m not sure if it was the incredible dynamic range that she displayed, or her natural beauty, or what… but I simply could not take my eyes off the screen. Do any of you have any information on her?”
yesMen: *paper shuffle* *fidget*
headHoncho: “No? Why has she not been brought to my attention? Why is it that my daughter does a better job than a room full of suits? She explained to me that she had been trying to tell me this for months! She shook her head at me as if I was completely clueless! She made an L shape with her fingers and put it to her forehead, whatever that means!”
yesMen: “Umm… errr… derrr… burp…”
headHoncho: “You’re all fired.” (picks up phone) “Hello, HR? Please hire a group of people who know talent when they see it.”

Wow! Oh my word, that was such an amazing episode! My fav yet of Legend of the Seeker! Bridget truly is a stunning, amazing actress.
I dunno of it’s just me, but I liked love Kahlan more… although Confessor Kahlan was funnier.
My fav scenes were Kahlan’s jealous moment with Cara, and the scene where she told Richard to go on with his quest… “we’re all depending on you”… and then of course the scene with Craig and Bridget in the forest.
I agree with Charlie, Cara’s reaction did seem to indicate she has feelings for him. If the writers had to go into that, it could prove to make things quite interesting.
Truly amazing. A++

Numbers for “Torn”
I’ll quote from a comment on that page:
Jace says:
February 24, 2010 at 1:51 pm
“All that really needs to be said is that Episode 11 – “Torn” went up against the Olympics, and The NBA Dunk Contest/3 Point Contest and Rookie vs. Sophomore game on Saturday/Saturday Night.
On Sunday/Sunday Night it went up against the Olympics and The Daytona 500 and the NBA Allstar Game and despite all that competition against it’s (LOTS) various timeslots it pulled off it’s second highest ratings ever (excluding the 2hr Season 1 movie premiere and its inflated ratings) for both of its seasons all the while coming off a rerun. Wow!!!
Well done Legend of the Seeker!!!”
