Having just seen DARK, it gets an “A”. Another really good episode.

This episode was more like a murder mystery, and it was interesting trying to find out who the bad guy was. But it also had a really nice battle sequence where Kahlan, Cara and Zedd fought Banelings. Kahlan and Cara both flipped some Banelings, which was a sight to see, and Kahlan was delivering some high kicks.

The part where Cara and Leo discussed pet and chipmunks was really cute. It is nice to see Cara laugh, and the chipmunks added a funny image.

There was a nice scene where Cara and Kahlan discussed emotions, with Cara offering to teach Kahlan how to be more stoic. Cara and Kahlan are helping and trusting each other, which is a gratifying plot development.

Zedd named a new seeker, Leo. He seems to be a likable seeker, though he is no Richard Cypher.

The ending prophecy about how the Seeker will fail while the Confessor lives is ominous. Does this mean that Kahlan will become a Baneling?

This makes 9 really good episodes in a row. Season Two continues its victory march.

  • By Lindsey, January 23, 2010 @ 5:46 pm

@Charlie Verna said that the Keeper would fail, not the Seeker. I even went and double checked my DVR to be sure. :)

  • By Finrod, January 23, 2010 @ 7:21 pm

It says “As long as the mother confessors pure heart beats, the keeper is doomed to fail.” Nice twist for the lovestory of Richard and Kahlan if you put an emphasis on the pure part ;)

The only thing that is regrettable about this whole episode is, that they compressed many many different stories in one character. The part with the was first Berdines part and killing sister ulicia AND taking Richards powers were also not done by nicci.

All in all it was nicely done, but the brief glimpse of perdition leaves me wanting for more :)

Oh and by the way, the first glimpse on the story after the defeated the keeper was there. Hurray.

Good points, everybody. I wasn’t expecting to enjoy it too much since I figured it would be a great deal of slow-paced training Richard. This was a very pleasant surprise, great pace and character development.

I think the prophecy aspect is fascinating. We know Kahlan believes in them and Richard doesn’t, and that tends to be the basis of all their disagreements. So I always wonder where the writers/producers stand on whether we should or not. Interesting too that the prophecy was added or rewritten, maybe because Richard reacted to a previous one? I hope that last one means that Kahlan is going to have an important role coming up.

The scene at the beginning I loved. It was poignant and beautiful, keeping Richard and Kahlan together in spirit, and I’m glad it wasn’t really sappy and depressing. Cara helps keep things light-hearted there too.

I liked this new Seeker as well. It’s nice to see someone take more time to appreciate Cara. I understand the heroes are a bit pressed for it and need to keep their gravity.

And we were suddenly reminded of the banelings again. Maybe that’s a bit of a lead-in for a future episode with the new Seeker?

  • By Patricia, January 23, 2010 @ 8:48 pm

Agreeing with Sarah…this one opened up so many possibilities for what direction the show is headed and I liked that…a lot.

And I liked the scene of Richard with Kahlan’s dagger thinking about her and at the same time, Kahlan with his sword thinking about him. No sappiness or goo…just right. And her conversation with Cara after that…very nice.

Not sure about the new seeker yet however…there’s something about his eyes…

And I got a huge sense of urgency at the end…a perfect setup (from what we saw in the preview) for what’s coming.

  • By Purplexion, January 23, 2010 @ 10:11 pm

The mighty chipmunk!!! It was nice to see Cara respond to a little flirting. I just hope they don’t lighten her up too fast, too soon. I haven’t read the books, so I’ll defer to anyone who has until I have as far as how she should be.

I liked ep. 9 more than 8. It did seem like it had a lot crammed into it even not knowing the books, but it wasn’t so choppy, in my opinion. I really wish they would have stretched some of that out to even another episode. The Sisters were an interesting addition to the show.

In the books, do they ever reveal just how powerful Zedd really is and do you think they’ll do so more demonstratively in the series?

The new Seeker seems straight-forward enough, but I’m guessing he’ll change when they’re reunited with Richard. Guess I should read the books, huh?

I may have missed this in a previous thread, but what is with all the laces and leather straps, but Cara has a zipper for her top? Seems out of place to me.

Last thing, all the Hon(sp?)absorbing and lightning from the sword of truth kept reminding me of The Highlander. There can be only one!

I really enjoyed this episode. I thought it was great. I think that the episodes just keep getting better and better each week. I especially liked the scene where Richard and Kahlan are thinking of each other while they are looking at the others weapons. I got a kick out of Cara talking to Kahlan about teaching her to control her emotions. I like that Cara is showing more emotions and growing as a person. The mighty chipmunk scene and her laughing was very cute. I am not sure about the whole naming the new seeker thing. By naming a new seeker maybe he is the one who will fulfill the prophecy by finding the Stone of Tears and turning it over to the Keeper. I read that one of the main characters is going to be killed and come back as a baneling. I suppose that the prophecy at the end is possibly setting that up. “As long as the Mother Confessor’s pure heart beats the Keeper is doomed to fail.” I don’t want to see any of the main characters die and come back as a baneling, especially Kahlan. I really hope that is not what happens. I think that I would be very disappointed. I realize that this series is only based on the Terry Goodkind books. I don’t want them to stictly go by the books but I can’t imagine how they would even begin to possibly kill and bring back one of the characters like that. Can’t wait until the next episode it looks excellent.

  • By Erica, January 24, 2010 @ 12:16 am

Finally! From this week’s ep and the previews for next week, it looks as if the writers are starting to build each episode upon the last one instead of the strictly stand-alone episodes of the past. I think for a show almost halfway into its second season, this is a necessary progression. Otherwise the show (and the characters) stagnates and doesn’t grow. Now, if they can just get better at foreshadowing things several eps in advance, then things like Richard’s headaches wouldn’t come out of left field.

  • By Busse, January 24, 2010 @ 6:03 am

    Great one ;)

As Erica pointed out , the episode are now more in the flow of the books , have only some twist, For my personal Taste I would also like to see some Episode which develope the lead Chars farther .. Cara in particular but there should be also Room for Zedd as the book gives a lot of Background for Zedd. (Remember in Season 1 the Tomp Episode ) , or another “Funny” Episode , just for the Fun of Bridget and Craig, were they can be something ELSE ;) ( and Im not talking about that , because of the “water-Scene” )

well you have to read the books, sometimes it get really confusing as all of those twists and different aspects cant be shown in a 45Minutes Episode, but sometime it helps to cover the deep Story which Terry developed. ( 11000 Page … much to discover … )

I liked those Lines and “smiles” between Cara and Leo , give some Romantic flair and Cara ist really good in doing those “between the lines telling” . Kathlan had that too, but the writer dont use those aspects any longer, to bad.

As one of the others pointed out, a little bit too much in one Episode ( Terry almost uses 2 books to get in all those Details … ) but great .

Finally those Baneling came back again … i hat that twist of the story as it not really fits logically into the plot, or did they kill SO many to stay alive ….

Next Saturday Episode 11 is coming up, the one that Bridget finds so cool , as stated on Twitter ( by the way 5000 Followers, Bridget you get some Gang out there ) , and I personally think that Richard will get his Power back an will even be “GREATER” , as he has to have his Wizard Power .

    @Purplexion
“In the books, do they ever reveal just how powerful Zedd really is and do you think they’ll do so more demonstratively in the series?”
.. Well lets say it like that “It will blow there mind ;) ” ( Book 4)

  • By Charlie Schmidt, January 24, 2010 @ 8:01 am

The hymn that the Sisters of the Light were singing at the beginning of LIGHT sounded authentic and had majestic sound. That was a nice touch.

Jolene Blalock did a good job in portraying Sister Nicci. This season, the producers of LotS have been spending more money to get more famous guest stars and their move is paying off.

Cara is showing more compassion – she told Kahlan that she hoped Zedd was all right. And it seems that Cara is attracted to Leo.

It’s somewhat surprising that Zedd would select a new Seeker by asking Shota for her pick. That’s like asking the head of the Mafia who should be the new Chief of Police.

Look forward to this in the next episode:

Cara: Okay, Alvin, Theodore and Simon! Attack! [Cara zapps them with her agiel]

  • By fuat atalayer, January 24, 2010 @ 8:02 am

great episode, cant wait to watch the next one. A+. how am i suppose to wait for a whole week?
imho, Bridget was great as always. she is very good at giving emotions. thats what i love.

About episode itself with 9 comments you covered all i thing when i watch thr 2nd time i may add something.

  • By Yasir, January 24, 2010 @ 9:35 am

    @Purplexion
“In the books, do they ever reveal just how powerful Zedd really is and do you think they’ll do so more demonstratively in the series?”

Out of all the main characters Zedd is probably the one farthest from the books. He was the first wizard and as such knew a lot of things which come as a surprise to the character Zed in the show. Specifically he always knew that Richard is a Rahl and about the time spell around Palace of the prophets. I have come to enjoy the show as a separate entity from the books so it doesn’t really bother me especially since Richard and Kahlan are pretty much straight from the books and as Bridget always says that is the best thing about the books.

    @Purplexion
The new Seeker seems straight-forward enough, but I’m guessing he’ll change when they’re reunited with Richard. Guess I should read the books, huh?

I am afratd you won’t find any reference to a new seeker in the books. That’s something the writers have created for the show. In the books Richard was always the seeker and the sword of truth was always bonded to him even when he didn’t have it. He could still use the sword’s magic. I think in the the show they kinda portrayed that since the sword never glowed for the new seeker like it did for Richard, unless I missed seeing that.

  • By Mathew, January 24, 2010 @ 11:05 am

Man that was awesome! Sister Nicci no blonde hair lol. I like the way they twisted the prophecy so that as long as Kahlan lives the Keeper fails. Plus having Kahlan get all emotional about missing Richard was so worth it. Oh and I kinda don’t like how they took the chipmunk part from Richard. That’s his thing!!

  • By Purplexion, January 24, 2010 @ 11:25 am

The scene with Kahlan shedding a tear while missing Richard was pretty touching, actually, but I’m pretty much a sap for romantic stuff like that.

I don’t think too many actresses could believable pull-off that scene, especially in a TV show. Bridget proves herself yet again.

Yasir and Busse–thanks for clearing up my questions about Zedd and the new seeker. I’m definitely heading to the book store or library this week. =)

  • By Yasir, January 24, 2010 @ 12:05 pm

Bridget has a lot of passion for Kahlan and it always shows up in her performances. Anyone who hasn’t listened to it yet I highly recommend the two slice of scifi interviews she has had, they are just awesome!!!

To Purplexion, if you like romantic stuff than do read the books. Most of the 11 books revolve around the heart breaking love story of Richard & Kahlan

  • By flip, January 24, 2010 @ 12:29 pm

Not one of favorite episodes but I understand the need for the change in the story lines. “B” for me.

Not impressed with Leo, looks like my 7th grade math teacher. Kind of acts like him too, a bit goofy.

Bridget is awesome. eeeenuffff said. Nicci was excellent too.

I think they need to bring back a sense of humor in Richard…he is getting too flat of a character.

Nicci has ALL Richard’s power now…ahh did he really think this whole thing thru? he could make Kahlan young again once he got out …well maybe.

  • By Jude, January 24, 2010 @ 1:55 pm

Of all the episodes I think this one will have book purists gnashing their teeth at the changes but they have to breathe and let it go. The main points are there just with a tv twist to fit them in.
The bit at the end with the prophecy about Kahlan dying .. and of course she is beheaded in the books. I realy hope though this does not mean she is the one of our intrepid 4 that comes back as a baneling.
I also wonder if the new seeker is the show’s answer to the book’s Benjamin for Cara. She can’t get married in the show it would ruin it so I lay odds it will end like this. Cara will melt some of the ice around her heart and maybe even fall in love a little. But in the end there can’t be 2 Seekers so Leo will have to die somehow. We will then get a repeat of the scene we have just had with Kahlan and Cara and maybe even a single tear from Cara and then she will say that love makes you weak and wall her heart back up again.

  • By Yasir, January 24, 2010 @ 1:58 pm

I concur with flip, overall I thought the episode was good but not one of my favorites either. However, the scenes of Bridget usually make an average episode good.
My favorite scene was when Kahlan was holding the sword of truth and running her hands through the hilt where Richard’s hands so often rested. This is taken from the books farther down in the series…

  • By Luke, January 24, 2010 @ 2:27 pm

I can not wait for next episode!

  • By Truth, January 24, 2010 @ 2:32 pm

A++ for the ep thanks to the writers for putting the prophecy about kahlan and the new seeker pairing w/ cara i woder what will happen when he leaves and if someone does become a baneling i hope to see denna in the underworld maybe shell sacrifice her soul or something to save that person unless its cara.

I’m sorry I read that. =( Puttin’ my hands over my ears and closin’ my eyes from here on.

  • By Yasir, January 24, 2010 @ 6:00 pm

Well just to make it worse Zedd is the one who captured her and offers her to the people to be beheaded…of course things are not always as they appear to be, otherwise there wouldn’t be any books after the second..:)

  • By Mathew, January 24, 2010 @ 6:04 pm

    @Truth

I was hoping she meant it was Craig’s birthday but imdb doesn’t have his birth date…I’d bake Bridget a Banana chocolate chip cake!

  • By Yasir, January 24, 2010 @ 6:10 pm

Craig Horner’s birthday is January 24 (which was yesterday in NZ) and in one of the interviews Craig mentioned that he and Bridget are fellow Aquarians. I am pretty sure that’s who the banana bread is for…

  • By Jude, January 25, 2010 @ 12:56 am

sorry no more spoilers. I forget not everyone has read the books

  • By archer, January 25, 2010 @ 9:26 am

Jude, you have some people wigging out on here. I hope that makes them read the books to know what your talking about. Anohter great episode in the chain for this season.I was hoping they would stick closer to the books, but what does it matter, this show rocks on its own. I love Bridget Regan playing Kahlan. I finally have a person to go with whom I have pictured in my mind for so long. She does a great job and now Tabrett is starting to add some great scenes as well. Everyone remember the pure of heart thing. If it follows the books, you all will like it. I rate it a B+

  • By deanna, January 25, 2010 @ 9:33 am

I loved the episode too. Really pleased that they have a story arc, it makes viewers want to tune in every week. Also, I think they managed to fit in quite a lot from the books. Of course it has to be twisted to fit an episodic TV programme, but they did it pretty well in the circumstances. No doubt however, the purists won’t particularly like it as they changed a number of things.
The banelings turning up like that didn’t really fit the plot but then as I understand it there has to be a couple of fights in every episode. The producers want it that way.
What I did notice was Kahlan’s expression when she had to hand the Sword of Truth to Zedd before he named the new Seeker, she looked uneasy about that – unsurprisingly. I thought Bridget conveyed a lot of complex feeling in just that one look.
Really looking forward to next week’s episode now.

  • By flip, January 25, 2010 @ 9:48 am

    @archer
yup…wigged out too. But the head(?) writer and exec producer has a ninja Kahlan icon for his twitter account. So maybe Mike will write that part (that will not be mentioned) OUT. How can you not have a sweet spot for Kahlan?? i.e. Bridget…intelligent, witty and beautiful. To heck with the books!!

Here’s a link to Deej’s cracky recap of DARK:

    http://deej.livejournal.com/122408.html

  • By Dennis, January 26, 2010 @ 9:05 am

(and now for my lenghty ramblings with the answers you’ve been waiting for)
First ladies and gentlemen, LotS is a TV show, not the books series. Goodkind has been clear that they are DIFFERENT (shouldn’t matter which came first). Novel purests should recognize that LotS is a different telling of a different story. To conflate the two is an error.

As for “Dark” it gets a B- grade. (flip is correct; help yourself to a Tootsie Roll.) Wee bit better than last weeks “Light”, but not as good as most Eps this season. The token fight scene with a pack of Banelings… ZZZzzz… (And for Pete Sake, why don’t they burn every enemy they kill in their random forest fight scenes to prevent the Baneling problem?)
No Wizard Fire from Zed; SFX were all scaled back this Ep. (Not that SFX or great fights makes for a good show, but its whip cream and cherry for when the story is good.)

The Richard-fan-girl scene irritated the hell outta me! If that was a writer trying to be funny, please fire that writer. Pointless dialogue; waste of precious celluloid.

The gal who played Nicci can’t act herself out of a paperbag. She was distracting me as she read her lines from cue cards off camera. I may be overely sensitive to bad acting however.

The new “Seeker” looks like a goofball and did not endear me to the character with his pathetic flirts to Cara. Unless the producers are so clever that they actually want me to not like him ’cause he’s gonna die/fail soon. (Also not a great actor.)

I agree with Erica (and others) that the writers really need to improve the story telling on a season-wide basis, foreshadowing, serial storytelling; show Richard’s headaches growing on him for the past few Eps would have given us some “mystery/suspense” to build up to and then its not out of left field when he leaves the quest in the first 3 min of Ep “Light”. The area that could use most improvement is script writing.

Cara laughed… woah! The joke wasn’t funny, but what a babetacular smile! (*pause video**light scented candles and grab the baby oil**play video*)

Kahlan shed some excess Visene from her eye. BR is a great actress, period. She’s rock solid.
Their conversation on emotions was good stuff. Tabrett also a rock solid actress.

My prediction is that this new “Seeker” won’t be around long (and please novel-purist people, I don’t care to hear what the books had happen)… although if he gave Cara some rug burns before he leaves I wouldn’t mind too much. (*meow*)

  • By Dennis, January 26, 2010 @ 9:28 am

P.S. New [fake] Seeker naming ceremony + divine lightning strike = He-Man and the Masters of the Universe. “I Have The POWER!” (the aweseomest cartoon of the 80s, which was the awesomeest decade for cartoons ever)

(If you were born after about 1983 then you likely have no idea what I just said.)

  • By fuat atalayer, January 26, 2010 @ 11:37 am

Agree with Dennis about ceremony and the cartoons of the 80’s :) :(

  • By Bill, January 26, 2010 @ 1:39 pm

Well, since Dennis and I have been on the same page recently with our lengthy reviews, I figured I’d wait to see his ramblings before posting my own. The streak continues, with some mild deviations.

“Dark” gets a solid B in my book. I’d argue that it’s significantly better than last week’s episode, though not the BEST episode of Seeker. Despite a few weak acting moments and some not-entirely-realized scenes, the episode was well executed compared to “Light” and several other episodes in the series.

First of all, the writers actually carried over part of the plot from last week, which, as I’m sure you can imagine, totally blew my mind. Another improvement: while the formula of having the main characters separated remains, there was more control in this episode. Rather than four half-developed stories going on at once (Richard’s power, the Lizard dudes, Cara and Kahlan’s search for Zedd AND Denna’s dastardly plot of doom), we got two pretty well fleshed out stories considering the time restrictions the writers were working with.

That religious chant scene at the beginning almost bumped this episode up a whole letter grade for me. It added tons of atmosphere and mystery, things a fantasy show should definitely work with on a regular basis.

I agree with Dennis that some time was wasted in this episode, BUT the biggest offense was not the Richard fangirl scene. Although annoying, I didn’t see it as pointless because we find out that the fangirl and Sister Nicci were working together, so it seems that her obnoxious display was meant to distract Richard’s “handler” so that Nicci could secretly get his attention.

The recap w/flashbacks scene felt a bit goofy to me, where Richard is explaining how he figured out Nicci’s plot step by step. That killed some time, but otherwise the Palace scenes were pretty intriguing.

And I don’t think Jolene Blalock (sp?) did such a bad job at playing Nicci. She wasn’t perfect, but I found her convincing for the most part. However, she kind of lost me in the scene where Nicci reveals herself to be evil. The insanely drastic transformation from earnest accomplice to an almost masculine, stereotypical villain seemed too inconsistent to be believable. Not all villains need to behave like they KNOW that they’re villains. Darken Rahl KNEW he was the good guy.

As for the new Seeker, I’m not so sure the negative reactions to him are a complete mistake on the writers’ part. I too felt some “I don’t know what” towards him that just left a bad taste in my mouth. But I think this works. He’s not a bad guy, he’s confident, seemingly nice and friendly. He just seems too sure of himself. In short, he’s no Richard. And we SHOULD be feeling that way as viewers.

The baneling fight, while not entirely necessary, was saved by the fact that it may have been the most well executed fight scene since season one (besides the “Baneling” opening fight). The choreography was bitchin’ and the cinematography was perfect — no Jason Bourne quick cuts to be found. If only Richard were there to enjoy it.

Personally, I thought the Cara flirting was a bit out of character. She might be lightening up, but Leo was essentially mocking her, and I don’t see that as something she’d find very amusing. On the other hand, the “emotions” conversation was great. That scene, as well as the prophesy room scene, were standouts for me. Both provided some good character moments that made me feel something for the heroes.

Well that may have been my longest rant to date. And, like I always say: just my opinion.

P.S. RockStarKahlan still doesn’t seem right to me. Bring back the girl-with-the-daggers-next-door, please.

    -Bill

Nice work, Bill. Your critical eye catches subtle nuances which are oft overlooked but not to be discarded. I likey. Most of your comments are right on.

Although on Jolene Blalock’s robotic cue card reading, you’re still wrong. ;)

  • By flip, January 26, 2010 @ 4:29 pm

You have to admit Deej’s recaps are FAR better than ours.

The number of comments on THIS episode is 1/2 of last weeks. Proof in the pudding, weakest episode of the year IMHO.

    now about those sexytiems!!!

  • By Bill, January 26, 2010 @ 5:08 pm

    @Dennis — Will do.

@flip — Deej’s recaps are a completely different animal. A sometimes amusing animal, mind you, but let’s not shortchange ourselves.

And if this episode is the weakest of the year, then I guess nobody saw “Light”. ;)

  • By Purplexion, January 26, 2010 @ 6:09 pm

I, for one, have finally figured out why I do not like the new seeker. He reminds me of Seann William Scott, the guy who played Stifler on American Pie. I avoid anything with him in it.

Jolene Blalock is not the best actress, but she was nice to look at in the absence of Kahlan and Cara.

  • By flip, January 26, 2010 @ 6:47 pm

I can see why Bridget mentioned Hulu.com, she was right on the front when I logged in last night..cool!

  • By archer, January 27, 2010 @ 9:04 am

Dennis, you can not tell people not to compare the show to the books. The characters are the same, the palce and world are the same and the basic story is the same. You can rant and rave all you want about what is different, but like mine and yours and everyone on here, opinions are like you now what, everyone has one. You telling what they think about camparing the two is wrong.

  • By Dennis, January 27, 2010 @ 9:26 am

Thanks archie, though to be clear I didn’t suggest not to compare, I said not to conflate. While the two stories are similar, they are not the same, according to Goodkind (the author). One attribute of insanity is to think things which are similar to be identical. People can think that MSNBC & The Daily Show are news, but they should be medicated for their own safety.

People, please don’t stress the differences when nobody has ever claimed the shows to be the same as the books. I’m not trying to stifle conversation, I’m only trying to help ease people’s stress, for the betterment of mankind. Call me a humanitarian.

  • By Yasir, January 27, 2010 @ 11:59 am

Having read all the books numerous times and also the show a number of times, I can say that I enjoy both of them for what they are. The show is based on the books but it is a different entity. Terry Goodkind considers the show to be an entry point in the book series and I totally agree with that since if it weren’t for the show I would have never known about the books and read them.

A lot of people haven’t read the books and they enjoy the show for what it is and that’s great. In my case, I have found things I enjoy about the show that I wouldn’t have so much if I hadn’t read the books. I can also give a lot of examples of that but it wouldn’t be fair to the non-bookies. And yes there have been a lot of changes but most of that is expected when you are creating an episodic tv show where most of the audience hasn’t read the books. I think we all should be able to enjoy the show for what it is and give the writers a break. There is enough good things in the show to make it a successful one.

I’m sorry all, I didn’t realize there was much difference between “conflate” and “compare”. Either or, It’s not an error. I enjoy the show just as much as I enjoyed the books I have read. I like to “conflate” some of the characters in the show to the books like Kahlan so I know more of what their about. Like I have said before, Kahlan in the show is just how I imagined her in the books.

was just wondering about the prophecy at the end. maybe the keyword in it is “pure heart” If Kahlan isn’t “pure” anymore that means no prophecy. Maybe R/K find a way. As Bridget put it more kissy kissy and may be more more

I confess to being mostly lost and confused with all these prophecies. It doesn’t help that I hold all such things as myth and superstition… even when framed in the fantasy world my mind automatically discards such silliness as irrational. And when the prophecies change themselves mid-stream (as in “Dark”), I just go, “Oh what the heck!? I giveup.”

Richard pretty much feels that way about prophecy in the books. While Zed does believe in prophecies he never acts on them as well since the words don’t give the true meaning of any prophecy, you need a prophet for that. Surprisingly there were no prophets at the “Palace of the Prophets”.

  • By Bianca, January 28, 2010 @ 12:13 pm

As for there being no Prophets in the Palace of the Prophets… I think they thought they WERE the prophets… and that in itself is a problem and is how I believe Zedd and Richard see it. How do you know a prophecy is being read/interpreted correctly? And how can you be sure that the prophet is even a “real” prophet? and if you were a “real” prophet, is it guaranteed that you always read prophecies correctly?

As the Seeker, he doesn’t take these things at face value. Which I believe is why he’s been so successful. even Zedd. Instead he takes what is in front of him and seeks the truth in the matter.

It would be interesting to see if his approach, the thing that has helped him the most, will someday bring about some sort fo downfall…

Not too much though, cause I’m Team Richard all the way!

    No offense Leo…

Yeah, that thing about Leo (aka fake Seeker) being the first true Seeker in :15 minutes… thats a plot weakness which came to my mind as well. So much trouble, effort, & struggle to keep Richard alive until he was ready, permitting the world to suffer under Rahl, the true Seeker being a rare commodity and all that… and then they just name the first goofball who walks up wanting a piece of Cara’s lovin?! It smells like Cheetos in here.

  • By Charlie Schmidt, January 29, 2010 @ 9:56 pm

Certain episodes will be remembered for certain things:

Marked – Cara joins the team; Richard takes command

    Baneling – Richard torches Banelings

Broken – Cara shows remorse; Kahlan spares Cara

    Touched – Richard is confessed

Wizard – Cara pulls Shota’s hair

Fury – Kahlan fights and disarms Richard

Resurrection – Kahlan saves Cara; Cara fights Denna

Light – Richard and Kahlan exchange weapons; Kahlan’s new dress

Dark – Leo is named Seeker; Cara laughs

Each of the characters has grown this season. Richard has become a confident leader. Kahlan has become a tougher fighter. Cara is becoming more human. Zedd has shown more magical powers.

What will the writers think of next?
