Regarding Inappropriate Comments
December 2, 2009 8:02 pm

Recently, we have had quite a few very explicit discussions come up in the comments. While calling Bridget or Tabrett or Craig or whoever sets your heart aflutter “sexy” is not out of line, please keep it within the boundaries of what you’d be willing to let a child read. We have no control over who sees this site and LotS is a Disney show. Sure, it pushes some boundaries but there are still children out there watching and they may seek this site out. We don’t want it to be completely vanilla, as I said, just mentioning how stunning they are is not excessive. But explicit details and such are not necessary and the comments will be unapproved if they are deemed as going too far. We don’t want to stifle reasonable discussion but some propriety should be maintained. And Bridget reads the site as well and we’d like the place to be respectful for her sake. Thank you.

    AMEN TO THAT! mwah!

  • By flip, December 2, 2009 @ 8:38 pm

Good job…I will be more careful. Thanks for keeping us on track. Some of the off-color humor gets out of line, I am guilty.
    Sorry

Bravo and Thank you. This is a great site for a lovely and talented lady and you do a wonderful job of keeping it up to date. I enjoy coming here because it is respectful to Bridget. Let’s keep it that way.

    @sheila
    +1, agree with you completely.

and @chris thank you nothing left to say.

    I agree @sheila +1!

Weak. (Esp since my last half dozen comments have been pulled.) I’m not suggesting pornographic comments are okay, but I think you’re being too vanilla. Recognize that LOTS had girl-on-girl spit swapping, two diff skinny dipping shows, a guild of dominatrix’s who use sex & pain in their arsenal of control methods, et al. The show is far from vanilla. I think you could ease off the prude button just a bit.

Hi Dennis, Did you notice I said “respectful to Bridget”?Mentioning a scripted kiss between two Mord Sith or any other sexy type scene is okay. Saying Bridget is a hot, sexy chick is okay—cuz it’s true. However I’m a grandma, maybe the oldest LotS fan, and I come here for news of Bridget, not to see demeaning sexual innuendo from any frustrated lovesick young guys. Dream on fellas. She IS “a hot babe” and you have a right to your dreams. Just please don’t print them out in here. Thank you from Grandma Sheila.

I think you should have just left Dennis’s comment alone. Attacking posters is not in good form for web hosts.

“”demeaning sexual innuendo from any frustrated lovesick young guy”"

Your point was orginially made by the title of the section.

The comments you deleted from my section was related to RICHARD, not Kahlan or Bridget. I understand why you did and you were right to do so, but you’re letting you temper get the best of you.

    Not good….

I think everybody should try to take it easy. I’m not accusing anyone, but starting an argument would defeat the whole purpose of Chris’s post. The goal is not to be dictatorial or censor people unfairly. It’s to keep the site professional and classy like the person it is dedicated to.

On one hand, pulling the sexually frustrated basement dweller card is a bit presumptuous. There are plenty of fans, male and female, who have fulfilling, active lives and still follow a show or star like Bridget. We shouldn’t be so quick to judge. There’s enough of that in the world.

On the other hand, sexually explicit comments don’t really add anything to the discussion. This is a comment section on a fansite, not open mic night at Bob Saget’s house.

I think the key is to remember that this isn’t primarily a forum to discuss the show. It’s a great aspect of the site, but regardless of what the show depicts, this site is really a love note to Bridget Regan as an actor and a role model. Inappropriate comments, if approved, not only reflect poorly on the people who run the site but may also offend the person whose work you’re here to celebrate.

And with that, I’m out like Darken Rahl in a column of blue flame.

    -Bill

@Sheila, so funny, my own grandmother was known by me as simply “Grandma Sheila”. God rest her soul.

The title of this thread “Regarding Inappropriate Comments”… surely all humans with a brain know that “inappropriate” is ENTIRELY subjective. In this case its the opinion of this site’s admin gods as to a comment’s suitability. THAT is weak.

To quote you the founder of the very company who now distributes LOTS:
“Direct and easy communications — freedom of speech in all forms and in its broadest sense — has become vital to the very survival of a civilized humanity.” —Walt Disney

Short of violence, threats, or libel… in my opinion let it be. Maybe this site’s creators want to setup an open forum where candid conversation is permitted (again, short of illegal acts).

  • By Bill, December 3, 2009 @ 2:19 pm

@Those calling the admins request “weak” — What kind of world are we living in when someone asking others not to be disrespectful to another human being has to turn into a constitutional debate?

There’s a difference between throwing away freedom of speech and asking people to show a little taste — which isn’t AS subjective as some make it out to be. Would you want someone making sexual comments about your sister, or mother, or second cousin twice removed? If that’s civilized, I’d rather be sporting a loin cloth.

It’s not that big of a deal to try and display a little class.

Wow. As Chris will tell you, I’m the official prude of this here website. If you didn’t know that 25 year olds could be prudes, hi! This is our site and we get to decide what is acceptable and what isn’t. I’m sorry that that seems to anger some of you, though I honestly have no idea why. There are tons of LotS sites and forums out there that cater to all types of things so if we don’t cater to your particular interest, fear not! There is a place for you out there on the internet, it’s just not here.

At the end of the day we’re here because we think Bridget is an awesome actress. We’re the third site that comes up when you Google Bridget Regan, behind only her Wikipedia entry and her IMDB page. We have an obligation to make this site accessible to all her fans. Bridget portrays a VERY powerful woman and I’d hate for a girl who idolizes Bridget and Kahlan to come here and see her being objectified. And, God forbid, I’d hate for Bridget or a member of her family (like her mom) to come here and see some of the comments that we’ve had to edit recently.

Also, I love you all so please quit poking at each other. :) If you have an issue with how this site is run, you are always welcome to e-mail either Chris or myself using the links on the right.

    Thanks Lindsey, I agree 100% : )

This is a great website for Bridget-you guys do a wonderful job!

Remember guys, “this is a comment section on a fansite, not open mic night at Bob Saget’s house” (haha loved this reference Bill lol)

Lindsey and Chris, you have a nice site here, dedicated to a charming and beautiful young lady. Keep up the good work!

  • By Seventh, December 3, 2009 @ 10:17 pm

Her Blue Eyes couldn’t have been in better hands. It is a bit sad when people, shielded by the anonymity of an online persona, would take liberties while sharing their opinion, an opinion they wouldn’t voice when they’re not at their keyboards.

Bridget does a fantastic portrayal of Kahlan, but she isn’t Kahlan. Kahlan’s a fictional character you watch on TV. Bridget’s a regular person, more awesome than most, yes, but a regular person that deserves to be respected as well as you’d expect yourself to be respected, you know?

It’s perfectly fine for you to get all hot and bothered about a character you enjoy on TV, but you’d be doing everyone a big favour if you reign in whatever feelings/emotions you have for that character and not project them on the actor.

    Happy Friday people!

Kinda surprised you pulled my last comment, above the post of Bill smelling his palm. It was a pretty innocuous comment. Oh well, its your site and you can frame the comments however you wish I suppose.
