Just saw Touched. Rating: A. Boy, is Kahlan noble. She had her big chance, but she wouldn’t take advantage of Richard.
Cara continues to rock. Too bad Zedd doesn’t trust her yet (being afraid Cara would turn Wizard’s fire against him). Cara is trustworthy, but she still seems callous. Hope Cara will start to show more compassion in the future.
Aimee Teegarden did a nice job potraying a naive girl. And the Night Wisps were magical.
This episode belongs to Kahlan.

Great to see Kahlan take center stage again, she of course, makes the show!! The romance adds depth to the series.

Spoiler…
As we know we have to wait to episode 11….Bridget said in numerous places.
By Charlie Schmidt, November 28, 2009 @ 7:59 pm
I laughed when Cara kicked Kahlan in the head. Very Cara.
By flip, November 28, 2009 @ 8:55 pm
Kahlan seemed truly crushed by Richard’s confession (nice job by Bridget). After all she had done and the OTHER girl gets him!!
The fighting has become too predictable, they win without harm every time. IMHO someone needs to be hurt to makes the scenes more exciting in the future.
Good bye Flynn. Not sure he added anything.
Spoiler…….
New Seeker coming soon…..not the handsome dude of Richard, but the one to defeat the Keeper. So I am guessing.

It’s nice that Kahlan didn’t kill Annabelle (Aimee Teegarden). Annabelle isn’t really bad, and it would be make Kahlan seem cruel had she killed Annabelle. Note how readily Cara was to kill Annabelle. Kahlan is good, and that is her strength.
Nice to see Zedd getting more action.
Yes, Kahlan was crushed by seeing Richard confessed. Fortunately, Kahlan managed to undo it without resorting to murder.
The morals of this episode: It’s wrong to deprive people of their free will, and it’s wrong to take advantage of someone is acting under confession. Had Kahlan let Richard make love to her, that would be similar to a man having sex with a very drunk woman, whose capacity to consent is gone. Kahlan did the right thing in stopping Richard.

ok someone correct me if i wrong. we all saw that Richard has been confessed, right. there were some clues that he could not been confessed fully. thats my opinion. the person who confessed by a confesor should act as a mindless person. even in the scene after Richard has been confessed he did nothing to Kahlan but the stop the dagger. He had to defend his mistress to death. i thing -and it is my humble opinion- Richard could not confessed fully as he could not be broken by the Denna. What makes Richard was special is his love to Kahlan. And Kahlan’s love to him. its my opinion again.
.that is my opinion again
the scene that Kahlan could not be with him, when she was questioning him about his feelings, (when he said that he wanted to please her because his mistress wanted him to),i saw a look in to his face as if he was pretending or he cannot act well
About Ms. Bridget Regan i dont have to write down anything. you all watched the episode. she was perfect again. and i am sure she will continue to rock entire season.
as an episode, another good one.

I was disappointed with this one, to be honest; it all seemed a bit contrived to me. The whole point appeared to be a way to have an intimate moment between Kahlan and Richard – if someone else confessed him they could be together. It had nice potential but for me it just never got there. It seemed manufactured and I couldn’t believe she was going through with it even though she knew he loved someone else. They got halfway there before she realized it? It just didn’t seem like something Kahlan would do; she’s much smarter than that.
I don’t think the advanced recon mission for Zed and Cara to Pomora was very convincing either – to me it was just a reason to get rid of them for a while thus making it easier to confess Richard without them there. And, it seemed like Pomora was more of a distraction rather than an important place in their quest to find the Stone of Tears. Furthermore, opening the tomb once all of them got there was pretty anticlimactic.
However, I do think the acting was top-notch, as always. Cara’s sarcasm is hilarious and Tabrett delivers it perfectly. Craig played a confessed person very convincingly; he didn’t go with the mindless slave but rather retained a lot of Richard’s qualities. And, Bridget was outstanding; I just wish she’d gotten a better script to work with to showcase her talent. Her blood curdling, “Richaaaarrrrrd” as he’s being confessed was excellent; and right before that when she knocked over the guys she’d been fighting in order to get to him was also excellent. Also, she does emotion so well; those were definitely the best parts of this one.
By Flip, November 29, 2009 @ 5:28 pm
Kahlan rocks, going to put that 8 inch blade right thru Annabelle to get Richard back…Don’t F with Kahlan and her man!! Go girl!!
Great acting job by Bridget….I wanted to kick the crap out of Annabelle myself.
By Vadim, November 29, 2009 @ 7:13 pm
Just saw an episode. And… just don’t know, what to think. On the one hand, this episode is better than previous one, and on the other hand, more silly script I can’t imagine. Besides, one epic fail on the other. It’s the first episode from the second season, where they’re so obvious. Among all lines I liked Zedd and Cara most. Tabrett deals with her character very good. Bridget’s Kahlan was great, but I was disappointed with filming style in this episode. Some of the angles, Bridget was filmed from, doesn’t look very good. Or, maybe, the problem was the make-up… No, I think both.
And, for the last, Annabell. Goooood, how can one be so DUMB?? Sorry, of course, but I can’t find another correct word, appropriate for this character… Her line was the most unlogical and contradictory. In view of this line is the main of the episode, it’s quite sad it turned of like this.
By angeldcharmed1, November 29, 2009 @ 8:08 pm
This episode did not surpass the ‘awesomeness’ of the previous one… but it indeed showcased Bridget’s acting chops! Well done Ms. Regan! Richard’s Confession scene was epic in terms of Kahlan’s reaction!
On a personal note, I kept pausing the scene where Kahlan and Richard were about to do the ‘act’… I wasn’t just ready for it! If it wasn’t 1am when I was watching it, I could have screamed at the top of my lungs!
Anyways, I am straight but watching Cara and Kahlan exchange battling gazes makes me wanna question my sexuality! Am I the only one having these reactions?! hahaha!
By Bill, November 29, 2009 @ 8:42 pm
@Patricia — I’m going to have to agree on most of your points. Although the acting was good (Bridget was top notch as always), this episode was a bit of a step down from last week.
I felt the concept could have been handled differently in a couple ways. First of all, the Annabelle character was one of the least likeable characters in recent memory. Being naive does not excuse her blatant disrespect for human lives, and for me, the scene in which Kahlan refuses to fight Richard is where the episode veered in the wrong direction.
Is there anyone here that DIDN’T want to see Richard and Kahlan fight? How dramatic would that have been? Now I don’t read spoilers, so there could be a fight between them coming up for all I know, but that seemed like a wasted opportunity. Also, considering the darkness and urgency that has characterized season two so far, the whole “bending over backwards to save a pain in the arse character” story seems like a return to season one — but not in a good way. I found myself agreeing with Cara. It’s not like they were protecting the Confessor line by sparing that whiny twit (Amy was fine in the role, it’s the character I find annoying). And what if something happens to that stone? Does Richard get the pocus put back on him? It seemed like an unnecessary risk. I think the episode could have handled the same themes but been a story about an innocent female confessor’s corruption.
I should say that I really liked the interaction between Zedd and Cara, and the scenes where Cara and Kahlan plan and execute the trick on that sorcerer had a very epic feel to them.
And who doesn’t love the classic dramatic “NOOOOOOO!” line? You could see the desperation in Bridget’s eyes, and that moment where she just stays on the ground after Richard gets confessed…great emotion. Sam Raimi (I think it was him) was right: Bridget really makes you believe what she’s saying.
Finally, the almost-sex scene felt very out of character. There’s no way that, having the facts she had, the Kahlan they’ve created on this show would ever let things go that far. She wouldn’t have to ask Richard why he was doing it. She would already know and therefore would not take advantage of him in the slightest. I understand the writers feel the need to give the audience those moments of sexual tension, but I think most of us can agree that this season has been so engaging in the last couple episodes (last one especially) that we don’t even need those moments to keep us intrigued, especially if they feel forced and out of character.
Rant concluded. I’d give it a 6.5 out of 10. Average, but we all know that an average Seeker episode is better than 95% of what’s on tv.

By Erica, November 29, 2009 @ 9:35 pm
Could the script have been better? Yes. Would a few alternate choices (Richard and Kahlan fighting, for one) have been more dramatic? Sure. But this is LOTS. If I watched it for awesome writing and perfect dramatic choices and, hello, some continuity, I would have stopped watching long ago. But there is something I really can’t explain that keeps me glued to the screen every week (aside from Bridget’s talent, that’s a given!)
That being said, I don’t really think Kahlan starting to go through with the consummation of her relationship with Richard was out of character. Her entire motivation is for the greater good, and continuing the line of Confessors would definitely be in interest of the Midlands. I think Bridget hit Kahlan’s hesitation and nervousness perfectly as she waited for Richard. Had he come up to her and said “Hey, my mistress Annabelle, whom I love, told me to do this, so let’s go,” she of course would have called the whole thing off right then and there. But Richard came to her with reassurance and comfort, in essence, just as non-confessed Richard would have done. At that point, Kahlan could almost believe her Richard was back. And let’s face it, given the added bonus of having something (someone) you never thought you could have was that extra push she needed.
Yes, getting to the point of rolling around in the leaves was pretty much gratuitous Richard/Khalan chemistry to satisfy the fans. But I think Bridget sold the choice to get to that point (and then the reversal) perfectly.
I echo everyone else’s comments about the addition of Cara. Her character rocks, Tabrett does an awesome job, and I love her interaction with the other characters.
For LOTS as a whole, I can easily deal with the cheesy dialouge and random hokey character choices. I just wish the writers could keep all their magical doo-dads/spells/rules of magic straight because the plot holes are kinda making my head spin! (example, don’t introduce a magic-suppressing necklace unless you explain why Richard and Kahlan can’t use it for their benefit, or don’t make a rule about “death by confession” unless you explain if/why Kahlan knew about that in ep 1 when she was about to confess Cara – which could have been some major added drama had Richard put two and two together and realized that Khalan was not only going to confess Cara in ep 1 but essentially kill her!) The LOTS team should take notes from Joss Whedon, because while Buffy/Angel didn’t always do everything perfectly, they did do a better job of keeping the mythology straight.
However, I’ll even suffer the lack of continuity for love of the cast and show.
By Charlie Schmidt, November 29, 2009 @ 9:50 pm
The characters of Richard, Kahlan, Zedd and Cara are all compelling. They seem like real people and they are very likable. Even naughty Cara.
If Season One was The Three Musketeers, Season Two is The Four Musketeers.
Touched wasn’t as good as Broken, but it was good. It was very nice to listen to Kahlan singing to the Night Wisps. Bridget Regan can really sing, and the writers should have her sing more often.
LotS is a intensely romantic adventure, and the romance between Richard and Kahlan is a key element of the saga. Unfortunately, so far Kahlan is becoming a nun while Cara gets to have some fun.
In Touched, note that Zedd doesn’t quite trust Cara, in that he was reluctant to use Wizard’s fire around her. But Kahlan had no concerns working with Cara to get the Quillion away from the Sorcerer.
Is Cara trustworthy? Somehow, it seems that she is.
There was an online survey at the official LotS site. There were questions about how much interest there was in having sexual encounters between Richard and Kahlan. I voted for having Richard and Kahlan getting closer this season. Even nuns need love.
By John, November 30, 2009 @ 12:22 am
***Spoiler***
The scene in the end where Kahlan and Richard were going to conceive was done very well. I could tell that kahlan could not go through with it. Just another example of how well they have done the romance in LotS. The episode itself was so so. Bridget did not get into her part until Richard was confessed I think. That is when she did what she does best. The way she shows Kahlans emotions is incredible.
By Taryn Richardson, November 30, 2009 @ 4:08 am
Oh my god….get it on alrighty. Im so happy that they are focussing more on Kahlan now. She is all inspiring and the first few episodes were being taken over by the rest of the cast. Maybe im confessed too. Well we all know if we are on this site we pretty much are. I cant wait for the next episode, bring it on guys. Best show in the world. Anyone whos desperate for more try the books they are awsome. Im on the last one and cant put it down.

Not bad.the character Annabelle seemd so familiar.then i rmbred she was in 90210 lol.anyway Cara rocks.too bad zedd doesnt trust her.now is all gonna be abt khalan and richard.cant wait for the next one
By Elma, November 30, 2009 @ 12:03 pm
I agree with most who say they absolutely loved this episode. It’s definitely one of my favorites this season. I do have to say that I would have liked to see Kahlan and Richard fight some more .. maybe even physically. It would have been a little extra for all the K&R fans.
Anyway, it was expected, at least for me, that Kahlan and Richard were not going to go through with it. I was so sad for Kahlan, but when she put a stop to it, you could tell how bad she wanted it. But she showed (again) how noble and true she is to Richard, that she would not be able to make love to him, while he was not really HER Richard… even though she is the last of her kind and that she needs to have a baby soon in order to continue her race.
Therefore, loved the episode .. can’t wait for more K&R. <3
By Brandon, November 30, 2009 @ 2:21 pm
I mostly agree with what everyone has said already. One of my favorite things was during the love scene, when Kahlan pushes Richard off of her, she makes this frustrated groan. Not a “I can’t go through with this,” more a “me and my big mouth had to ruin it.” I laughed hard at that.
Bridget was phenomenal, she was really able to show Kahlan’s conflict between saving Richard and saving the only other Confessor.
I agree with the gaps in continuity, one I noticed last week was Richard holding the Aegil (sp?) He said because it had been used on him he could hold it, but last season it seem like Denna’s Aegil STILL hurt her after she had used it for years. Thanks for letting me know I didn’t miss something.
I also agree with others who say that Flynn and Annabelle were annoying. Actors did well, but the characters were just annoying. It seemed like they were crucial to the books, and needed to be in the show, but the Producers didn’t like them either, so they got them in there and back out before too much damage could be done.
Every week, I like Zedd and Cara more and more. Their relationship/rivalry/whatever it is makes the show even better.
By CaptainZimmer, November 30, 2009 @ 2:37 pm
Well, in books, Richard fights like the one in LotS after he learns the Dance with death(it’s second book of the series). He kills everbody with no problem
. Kahlan learns how to fight like Richard in Faith of the fallen, book number 6. So the actually can fight like they’d be chalanging dolls. But fights aren’t that essential at all.
Abt the episode, it was quite allright, but “Broken” was better,I got annoyed watching this one. Can’t wait till next, “Wizard”.
Bridget was amazing, as always.
Best regards!
By icarts, November 30, 2009 @ 3:57 pm
i thought that the richard kahlan scene made perfect sense. of course she knew that he didnt love her (in that he was confessed by annabelle and therfore loved annabelle) but she still loves him. it makes sense that if such an opportunity presented itself that she might want to actually get busy with him. but she never would have gone through with it because shes kahlan so kudos to the writers for giving her that escape route.
By Lindsey, November 30, 2009 @ 4:43 pm
I’ve read the books, and a REALLY important facet of the Richard/Kahlan relationship was mentioned. Richard: “I love her as much as I ever loved you.”
By Bill, November 30, 2009 @ 5:41 pm
@Lindsey — That line was certainly a drop-kick to the gut.
I haven’t made much of a dent in the books yet (if only college classes assigned fantasy book series as required reading), so would you mind elaborating on what you mean when you say “a REALLY important facet”?
Does that line come into play again later or something?
By Cait, November 30, 2009 @ 6:04 pm
I had to laugh when Cara was fighting the guys in the Sorcerers cave. She was smiling. Tabrett did an amazing job as did Bridget.
By flip, November 30, 2009 @ 8:11 pm
Wow, great write-ups….but the sexy time was the best part
of course Cara had to kick Kahlan to wake her up…
By Charlie Schmidt, November 30, 2009 @ 8:23 pm
In Season One, Mirror was a humorous episode. In Season Two, they should lighten up by doing an episode where Cara puts on the white dress and impersonates Kahlan. For example, suppose Kahlan and Zedd are off on a mission, and Richard learns that local villagers were attacked by Mord-Siths and have put a high bounty on Mord-Siths that are returned dead. Richard tells Cara she isn’t safe in her outfit, so Cara puts on the white dress that Kahlan left behind. Soon Richard and Cara meet villagers, who think that Cara is the Mother Confessor and ask her to confess some local criminals. Cara then proceeds to interrogate the prisoners – Cara style – tactless, brutal, and insulting. That would be funny.
By Lindsey, November 30, 2009 @ 9:59 pm
@Bill hehehe, I mean it was important. You’ll understand when you get to the end of book 1.
By Bill, December 1, 2009 @ 7:41 am
@Lindsey Haha. I HAVE finished book one, though it was awhile ago. So I wasn’t quite sure what aspect of their relationship you thought that particular line highlighted.
Besides the fact that he’s head over heels for her, of course. Maybe I’m just forgetting what you’re referencing. I guess it’s time to reread Wizard’s First Rule…
By KP, December 1, 2009 @ 8:47 am
It might be just me but it seems like this season, Kahlan is the one who is head over heels for Richard whereas last season, Richard was always pining for Kahlan. Its interesting because there are moments when you think Richard doesnt really care about Kahlan that much anymore…guess it makes for some interesting tension.
By Charlie Schmidt, December 1, 2009 @ 9:06 am
Here’s a link to a review of Touched:
http://tv.ign.com/articles/105/1050123p1.html
Note that the reviewer pointed out that, if it had been Kahlan who had been confessed, the plot would not have her trying to have sex with Richard while confessed. Good point.
The point about Kahlan feeling lonely was interesting. Kahlan is the last confessor, and she felt she had lost Richard.
By fuat atalayer, December 1, 2009 @ 11:06 am
Hello folks, i have read all 36 comments again. i wanna share my opinion about Cara. i really want her to be trustworty i really do. However, if something goes on so smooth, nice & easy, i would expect trouble. Till now she has proven herself a couple of times. But something still bugs me about her.
As an actress i agree that she is good. Adding the Cara char. is a good decison indeed. Best regards
By flip, December 1, 2009 @ 12:21 pm
@Charlie. Thanks for the review. I feel like I miss so much when I read some of these reviews….
Bridget talked extensively early on about learning to live and breath her character. Reading the book over and over again. Since the shows do not follow the books very closely she has had to draw on her understanding of who Kahlan is. And Kahlan is alone. She is frustrated to not have a normal life and now be constantly worried about Cara, not to mention her own feelings and desires.
Picking up the incredible internal battle Kahlan is having will require some introspective acting. Bridget clearly is a very bright woman and seems to be trying to work hard on the moments she is given to convey Kahlan’s internal struggles. Playing a bit part in different shows is one thing but to grow a character like Craig and Bridget are doing seems to me a wonderful thing about acting.
In the real World a Kahlan could not help but to deal with being depressed. It will be interesting to see how she deals with this aspect, anger or becoming introverted.
By icarts, December 1, 2009 @ 6:04 pm
Does anybody think she might actually take a mate other than Richard? I feel like she doesn’t want to, but she is the only confessor left. Maybe her loyalty to the confessors is more important than protecting Richard’s feelings. If she doesn’t take a mate, she’ll have to wait until the last episode before she makes an effort to continue the line of confessors, because they can’t be with each other until then. *not that I don’t want them to be, but it would ruin the show*
By Charlie Schmidt, December 1, 2009 @ 6:46 pm

Thanks for the linkage. Not sure how I missed this. Pretty cool.
Ha. Bridget’s video is the best. She’s hamming it up and it rocks. I don’t know why, but I thought Ron Burgundy from Anchorman, except female…and a confessor.
By flip, December 1, 2009 @ 9:44 pm
Bridget or Megan Fox? It occurred to me at different times they look alike (similar hair). But hands down Bridget is the winner, but I do like intelligent women versus bird-brains. And those eyes…….
Tell me that Bridget would not be better in those roles Megan plays!!! Then again Megan plays crappy roles that require the actor to act like a bird-brain. Forget that…
could you see Megan Fox doing Broadway?
OK …sorry..off topic…..
By flip, December 1, 2009 @ 9:50 pm
IMHO, Bridget’s KHLA interview was Bridget at her best, what a great wit!!!! Fast on her feet. You have to love that sense of humor as she seemed more relaxed.
I got $10 says she had over a 3.5 GPA at UNC. Lindsey, you should be able to find out that!!
OK sorry MORE off topic…..LOL

@icarts.. “mate other than Richard”. Micky Mouse would not allow that. Cara brought in to bring in the bad girl element I feel, Kahlan has to remain the pure one.
spoiler:
But future episodes do bring Kahlan into a jealous rage and she almost loses it. But it all works out in the end. Just as Mickey Mouse would want it….why episode 11 is Bridget’s favorite (per her Tweet)
then I assume baby Richard…Kahlan puts on 100 lbs. and Richard takes off with Cara and becomes a woman Mord’Sith.. JK…

@flip. Megan who?
By Dennis, December 2, 2009 @ 9:21 am
OMG can this show get any sexier?! Jeezus.
Kahlan was dumb for not finishing the love making with Richard just cuz he was confessed. He was under a spell people! We all know that you remove the spell with the red rock and he’ll be back to wanting to make babies with Kahlan. sheesh. Weak as hell. Although I do get it for purposes of the show… suspense… yadda yadda… still weak. Richard has got to be blue in the groin by now. (Not cool Kahlan.)
And Cara is getting sexier with each Ep. At this point I can’t decide who’s more delicious, Tab or BR. (Don’t slap me BR fans… you know its true.)
LOTS so rocks. But whats with Richard being so easily distracted by everything? ADD. SADD (Seeker Attention Deficit Disorder). Maybe its cuz his other brain is being constantly teased by two of the hottest women in the Midlands. Love it.

The website TVbythenumbers.com is reporting ratings for Baneling as:
The ratings for Season Two so far appear to be OK. The reported numbers are the base and don’t include DVR nor Hulu viewings after the initial airings, which would boost the number of viewers to over 3 million.
By Patricia, December 2, 2009 @ 10:47 am
@icarts: “because they can’t be with each other until then. *not that I don’t want them to be, but it would ruin the show*”
I’m one who believes that it wouldn’t ruin the show if they were together. Their relationship has to grow and change; it has to evolve as the characters do. They can’t spend the entire duration of the series pining away for one another (nor can they be with anyone else). With strong writing and acting (both of which are abundant on LOTS), it could be done. Otherwise the writers have to keep coming up with all these other ways for them to be almost-together (in RECKONING it was Kieran and Vivian, in MIRROR it was really Clayre with Richard, and in TOUCHED Richard was confessed). It gets old after long and it becomes transparent that that’s what the writers are doing. Just let them be together; with good writing there can still be conflict and tension and romance and it would bring a whole new facet to what connects them to one another. It could be amazing especially with all that chemistry already between them.
By Charlie Schmidt, December 2, 2009 @ 11:26 am
Richard and Kahlan should get together.
Kahlan (to Richard): Undress me! I deserve it!
Richard (turning away): I have looked into this Confessor’s eyes and I have seen genuine lust. Years ago her life was cruelly taken from her when she became a confessor. I will not take it from her again by dishonoring her white dress of purity.
By Dennis, December 2, 2009 @ 12:00 pm
Richard is so easily distracted by every quest that comes along, just make a little side quest to go get that neck brace thing (from the werewolf ep) and get some ConfesSeek lovin’. After a while it will get absurd to always avoid the “elephant in the room” and they will need to just tend to the carnal priorities of lust. Else let Richie get some Sith love and make Kahlan Con Dar some peeps. Maybe they they could get sneaky, manipulate Kahlan through sexual jealousy into using her Con Dar power to help seal the underworld. Then Richie finally gets some and they save the world. Win.

Did you guys wtch this clip yet? Watch it all the way thru.
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=zcedFqS7cT4
They edited out a lot of the original conversation Richard and Kahlan had with her answering questions to Richard about not being able to make love (Denna #8). IMHO, it helps explain more that Kahlan wants to be normal and having Richard love her has to be perfect. As she says, she could not believe anyone could love her!! OMG…how romantic and they CUT IT OUT. those cads

@flip It doesn’t make sense that the ratings are down from last year, since Season Two is starting out so much better than Season One. Word of mouth is spreading, particularly after BROKEN, so the ratings should start climbing.
Cara’s video in the SEEKERS OF LOVE contest is funny, when she says that she’s looking for “a man…or a woman”. Who knows, maybe Kahlan will become Cara’s BFF.

Dang guys (web hosts), my posts deleted. I thought I was OK…even the one reminding folks to watch the deleted scene in previous post? Was that bad? Or did I screw up?

@flip The spam filter tends to catch comments with links in them. Part of it is because the site is new and the spam filter is still learning what to allow and what to catch. The comment is up now.

All in all I love every aspect of the show! However, I just watched the last part again and I wish when Kahlan said it was just her now Richard’s response would have been “you have me”. I am ok with how the writers are progressing the plot as far as the physical relationship but, some kind of contact would be nice. In the books before they even knew who each other were they had contact! Cant wait for Saturday!

@Patricia I don’t think it would ruin the show. personally, i would love to see Richlan grow, but if they get what they want then there’s no tension unless it’s taken away again. so they could actually have a relationship for a little while, but then something worse would happen and it would be right back to square one

@ charlie above (re: ratings). Where I’m at the show comes on Sat at 4:00pm. WTF! Who is home Sat at 4? Surely not I, not ever. If on at 8 or 9 pm I’d be good. So I don’t blame the show one bit, but the syndicates are being dumb. … I end up waiting a few days and catching on Netflix. Then I can light some scented candles, rewind the hotness, and make a night of it. Good times.

Cool … 100% more Comments then in Episode 3 … if Eprisode 5 generates then 200 Posts I would say its an indicator that Season 2 is REAL GOOD …

Some posters have mentioned that Touched isn’t as good as the first three episodes of Season Two. Yes, Broken was outstanding, but Touched is a solid “A”.
Just as Broken was a character study of Cara, Touched revealed important aspects of Kahlan. In Touched, Kahlan showed that she truly loved Richard by not loving him. Love must be freely given or it is meaningless. For instance, had a confessed Richard been told to marry Kahlan, the marriage would be void since there was no free consent by Richard.
Touched also had a very nice touch: Bridget Reagan singing an enchanting song to the Night Wisps. She can really sing.
Touched also showed Zedd learning to trust Cara a bit more, and it revealed that Kahlan trusts Cara. LotS continues to rock.

Truthfully I do not watch a lot of TV at all. I just got hooked on LOTS via Hulu…So I find it amazing that 16 out of the top 25 shows are RERUNS. http://tvbythenumbers.com/2009/12/02/syndicated-ratings-top-25-legend-of-the-seeker-2nd-episode-of-s2/35006
People get hooked onto a show and will watch rerun after rerun I guess. Why are the viewers 1/2 of last year? I think they had a few under a 1.1 rating last year (worse than this year). I do not know if the ratings dropped slowly thru the season last year, do you? I believe they did.
Maybe those that read the books were just plain turned off by the divergences in the TV show. Reading Hulu comments shows some really upset folks that had read the series.
The producers probably could have made a successful movie but I like the idea, like a good book, you want it to go on and on.
Needless to say, given the drop off last year and the slow fade this year I am not encouraged if they end with well under 2m viewers in the end…….but Network execs cut Family Guy a few times, shows their wisdom…Family Guy RERUNS are 8th…LOL

@Charlie Schmidt again,,,FYI
The cost of the average TV show runs as high as $13m (ER) and low as $500k for a pilot. The average is $1.5m to $2m per episode for a TV series. My guess LOTS is upward to $2m, easily.
Here’s info on ad dollars:
In general, advertisers covet the 18-49 age demographic; older viewers are of almost no interest to most advertisers.[4] The number of viewers within the target demographic is more important to ad revenues than total viewers. According to Advertising Age, during the 2007-08 season, Grey’s Anatomy was able to charge $419,000 per commercial, compared to only $248,000 for a commercial during CSI, despite CSI having almost five million more viewers on average.[5] Due to its demo strength, Friends was able to charge almost three times for a commercial as Murder, She Wrote, even though the two series had similar total viewer numbers during the seasons they were on the air together.[4] Broadcast networks are concerned by the increasing use of DVRs by young viewers, resulting in aging of the live viewing audience and consequently, lower ad rates.[6] Also TV advertisers may also target certain audiences of the population such as certain races, income level, and gender.[4] In recent years, shows that tend to target young women tend to be more profitable for advertisments than shows targeted to younger men, this is due to the fact that younger men are watching TV less than their female counterparts.[7]
So if you assume LOTS at 2.5m viewers and $100k paid per commerical, 20 ads per episode, it is slighly profitable. Under 2m it gets worse.
Sorry I run a Hedge Fund so I always think numbers too much..

@Charlie S.
sorry I meant $125k per episode (1/2 of CSI’s ad revenue).

Sorry me AGAIN,,hot off the press
the 3rd episode for LOTS was UP!!! Good news:
Legend of the Seeker fans, the show’s third episode of season two didn’t make the top 25 below but it had an average audience of 2.504 million. That’s up from the 2.24 million for the second episode but still off a bit from the season two premiere which averaged 2.58 million viewers).

I accept that there is some concern about current viewing figures in the USA, but LOTS is now shown all over the world – 160 countries I think and is very popular.
I watch it in the UK, and lots of my friends here love it. Surely it won’t just be US viewing figures that will ensure whether we get a 3rd season or not?

Fight scenes could be better. Its becoming dull to me. I might prefer the camera techniques from the movie 300 where they can make it seem like Richard is almost moving faster than those around him. He’s supposed to have the combined power of countless Seekers, right? (i’ve not read the books.)
I wouldn’t mind some improvement there.
Otherwise the show is super great. Touched was as good as any other Ep so far (mostly because of the near love making… bohm chinkah bohw wohw…)

Bridget has a smooth voice. She was singing too in season 1 episode 5 “Listener”
i love her voice!
