I know you are all sitting out there wondering, are the bonus features on the first season DVDs for Legend of the Seeker full of enough Bridget for me to buy them? As I have no idea what your specific Bridget requirements are here is a look at all the DVD extras that have Bridget, or Bridget related, things in them.

On the First DVD there are commentaries for the first two episodes featuring Bridget, Craig Horner (Richard),executive producer Ken Biller, and co-executive producer Stephen Tolkin. I’ve listened to many commentaries over the years where the actors can’t really remember what’s going on from one episode to the next so it was awesome to hear Bridget not only make jokes and references to other episodes from later in the series but to also here her reference the books the show is based on. She and Craig do a lot of the talking for the commentary and give a lot of insight not only into the episodes but also about how they got the roles and some of the pre-production work that went into the series. While Craig does go on and do another commentary for another episode, that’s it for Bridget.

Also, there’s a behind the scenes featurette called Forging The Sword: Crafting a Legend. It’s part stage tour by Craig Horner part interviews with the director, art director, costume designer, set designer, and other people who work on the show. Almost all of the time Craig is on screen so is Bridget. Something that comes up a lot in talking about Kahlan is her white confessors dress. The interview with the costumer goes into a bit of how it’s made so if you’re after your very own confessors dress it’ll be helpful. Some of the more interesting behind the scenes shots of Bridget include seeing her out and about at horseback riding lessons and she and Craig running around set playing jokes on their castmates.

The only real complaint I have about the whole DVD set is that they’ve shoved all 5 DVDs into one DVD case and that means there’s no nifty little booklet. I like the booklets that come along with TV season on DVDs because they usually have episode descriptions and pictures from the series. I have all the attention span of a flea so I can never remember episode titles. If this applies to you, Wikipedia has a summary for each episode here: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_Legend_of_the_Seeker_episodes#Season_1_.282008-2009.29

On the whole I’m happy with the set, I think if you enjoyed the series and you want to see some excellent extra Bridget then you won’t be disappointed with it. For those of you who have already picked up a copy, what were your thoughts on it?

I agree, the bonus materials are great! Listening to their commentary as the first two eps play was fantastic. What they said was fun but I also liked listening to how they interacted with one another. Everyone has so much respect for one another. The same goes for the Forging the Sword bonus video.

    To Lindsey:

Amen on the booklet crisis. My one friend and I have been complaining recently that most DVDs (for shows AND movies) no longer provide us with any booklet action!

What is this world coming to? Okay. Rant over.

I bought THREE, ha. And I haven’t gotten ANY yet. This is what we call in the business, less than perfect planning. ;)

I should get one of the three a week from now, so I’m looking forward to that. Also, episodes on iTunes are uncut as well, and better yet, in HD!

I’ve only seen the commentaries for the first two episodes so far (I just recieved it a few days ago). The commentary was adorable, and it gave insight into why Bridget and Craig have such good onscreen chemistry. It was very entertaining. I think it was well worth it. I guess I’m really addicted, I remember all of the episodes in order, so the lack of booklet isn’t a huge deal. However, booklets usually have cool pictures, and I wish they had put some in there. On another note, does anyone know where I can watch the Seeker special thing with Lucy Lawless? I didn’t see it and don’t know where to find it.

@Jillian The Lucy Lawless thing, Legend of the Seeker: The Making of a Legend Promo, was a free download from iTunes… but it’s not there now. However, as is true with most videos, it is over on YouTube in a couple of different spots. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=OwMmyLRDUJk is one.

New seeker introduced now in the 2nd season!!…Richard bye-bye?
Bridget still there after many episodes…so good sign. But Cara is making life difficult for Kahlan as the interview with her says. Jolene Blalock moves in on Richard too. Man, Richard is going to have it tough fighting off now THREE really hot girls after him. No wonder we all feel inferior..LOL

I do think we need to write Sam Raimi, Bridget is a MUST character in the series. Anyone care to find out how to email him???

  • By Mattia, October 23, 2009 @ 9:23 am

@Flip I also search an email for fan, but nobody can say me something!

  • By Lindsey, October 23, 2009 @ 10:00 pm

@Flip As the seasons are going through the books they can’t get really get rid of Kahlan. I’ve read them and I can assure you she’s there to the end. :)

As to where to write to the show… I have no idea, sorry.

i always have a thing for gag reels on tv boxsets!

  • By Jillian, November 2, 2009 @ 10:00 pm

I’m sure they won’t get rid of Bridget. She and everyone else I’ve seen have said that the relationship between Richard and Kahlan is the driving force behind the show. I say that because they don’t appear to be following the books, but I’m still sure they will keep her. And I just got to the episode Mirror and I’m really surprised there isn’t any kind of special feature for it. I was sure there would be. It’s their only really comical episode in the series.

I only wish they put a little more deleted scenes of Craig. Don’t get me wrong I love the whole DVD. Oh yeah, Bridget and Craig sound like they have a lot of fun on set, I wish I could see some of their bloopers. I’m just glad we get another season. It’s my favorite show now. I have a feeling this season is going to be even better. Congrats to the creator of this site. I hear Bridget gave you a shout out and that’s how I heard of Her Blue Eyes, so congratulations.
